An avid iPhone advocate, I was far from convinced when I opened up my box from T-Mobile, bearing the new G1 phone - better known as the Google Phone. Could this burly little gadget live up to or ever surpass Apple's stylish gadget?
The simple answer is...MAYBE. Not definitive, I know but hear me out -
What's Great About the G1 -
- As much as I love the iPhone touchscreen, having the versatility of a pull out (Sidekick-style) keyboard is awesome - you can really type with two hands and also much easier for larger hands.
- T-Mobile's service is far superior to AT&T in my experience - no dropped calls and full bars throughout all of the five boroughs. LOVE.
- The G1 has LOADS of awesome apps to choose from - basics from weather to super fun games and an Expense Calculator that makes keeping track of your shopping budget a BREEZE. Oh and did I mention, you can even shop online from your G1? The internet is that easy, that fast.
What's Lacking On the G1 -
- Battery life seemed a bit spotty
- Let's face it, there's NO matching the sleek beauty of the iPhone. Sorry to harp on it, but that's why so many people worldwide love Apple - side by side, the G1 is a lot larger, thicker and even (some might say), CLUNKY. Sorry, G1!
For more info on the G1, check out T-Mobile's site or visit your local store.

Thank you for this post! I have been curious about the comparison between the iPhone and the other touch-screen phones like the GI and the Windows phone :-)
Any thoughts on Blackberry vs. iPhone?
cheapchic, I wish I could give Bberry vs. iPhone feedback! Have you checked some of the recent reviews?
