Spa at Home Sunday: Getting Great Legs with Venus

Sundays are a great day to get a jump start on your beauty routine for the entire week and that usually means getting a great shave. In fact, of the 110.5 million U.S. women that remove hair, 102 million of them rely on the good old fashioned razor. Yes, over waxing, sugaring or the like.

But razors have come a long way since I started shaving - it seems like every year means another blade or a new element added and this year is no different as Venus is releasing a few new goodies this month including Satin Care Lavender Kiss Shave Gel, the five blade Venus EmbraceSpa Breeze (also available in Disposables version) and the scented Tropicals Disposables

To get goddess-worthy legs this Sunday, try these six steps:

1- Prepare your legs by soaking in a warm bath or shower for two minutes to hydrate hair (this makes it easier to cut.) Avoid soaking for too long, however, as it will make your skin swell and you'll get a less-close shave.  Apply a shave gel like the new Lavender Kiss formula.

2- Select the razor that works best for you. After comparing the new Venus offerings to my old standby, the Schick Quattro, I'm favoring the new Venus Spa Breeze system.  With five blades and two built in shave gel bars scented with white tea, I get a close shave with no discomfort or dryness.

3- After shaving, moisturize your skin . Try a radiance boosting body moisturizer to keep your legs looking their absolute best. (I like Trish McEvoy's Blackberry & Musk Super Enriched Body Cream.)

4- Trade in your pants for a flirty skirt or dress!

5- Find the perfect sexy shoe. One of my favorite shoe designers, Courtney Crawford, recommeds stilettos with toe cleavage for the most va-va-va-voom or a high platform for the more full-figured among us.

6- Now that your legs look fierce, make sure your walk is on point. Be sure to keep your legs as close together and as straight as possible; imagine a straight line in front of you and walk to it.  Tip: Place each step directly in front of the other so that you look  - and feel - like you're on a runway.

Venus razors range from $6.49 to about $11.49 for blade refills. To purchase, check out your local drugstrore. For more info, visit the Venus website.
