My original post announcing stylist Ted Gibson's new gig on TLC's What Not to Wear has generated SO MANY views and comments to date, I felt compelled to go straight to the source for some scoop. Read on for my exclusive Q&A with Ted:
How did your role on WNTW come about?
I actually didn’t know what show it was for when I first went in to audition for What Not To Wear. I went in and talked about hair and makeovers and then the show called me back and let me know it was for What Not To Wear!
Tell us how working with the makeover candidates on WNTW compares to working with your everyday & celebrity clients?
Working on What Not To Wear is the same as working with magazines and celebrities because every woman wants to feel sexy and special and wants a makeover!
There was a lot of discussion on fan communities about Nick Arrojo's love of short cuts. How do you feel about long hair vs. short?
I’m a huge fan of long, sexy, shiny hair a la Angelina Jolie, Debra Messing and Gabrielle Union (editor's note: these are just a few of Ted's gorgeous celeb clients) and I will be bringing some of that sensibility to What Not To Wear.
Do you have any hair mantras/philosophies? Beauty is Individual!
What is the post common faux pas that women make with their hair?
Never making any changes. A woman should change her look seasonally whether it be highlights, bangs, changing the length or adding more layers.
What do you think of Ted's work on What Not to Wear so far?

I think Ted's right that women need to change up the hair. How many friends do you have that still have the same style they had in high school? Hair is such an emotional hot button for women, but you know, no matter how bad it is, it grows back!
Absolutley cut the hair! It's just hair. I started growing mine as a rebellion to the "Pixy" cut I got as a child which made me look like a boy. I have naturally curly hair, it's harder to care for long but not impossible. I've had it drastically cut three times, the last time a month ago. This is the best short cut I've ever had, and gotten the most positive comments on. I'm 47, don't look it but I've had several people tell me cutting the hair cut even more years off my look....go ahead cut it off! It'll grow back!
What not to wear - a badly fitting polyester Pepto Bismol pink shirt that bunches under the arms and shows your man-boobs. Why would anyone take fashion advice from this person?
I want my Nick fix back! I can't hear Ted very well, he speaks so softly and so low -- bad hearing anyway. Love the show but not fond of this hairdresser.
