Skincare: What's Working

So, as oft discussed on this blog, my skin is, on many days, the bane of my existence. I'm troubled by nothing short of TROUBLED skin - hyper sensitive and prone to breakouts. In recent months, it's been worse than ever before...exacerbated by stress and poor eating habits.  So, when I say that there are products that have made a DISTINCT, OBVIOUS difference in my skin, it means something. Here are the products that I will not be parting with anytime soon.

First - and most importantly - nothing has made a more immediate impact on my skin than the Clarisonic Classic Sonic Skin Cleansing System. Though you'll have to cough up a significant chunk of change - $195 - the Clarisonic offers a gentle deep cleansing (yes, I use the brush heads designed for Sensitive Skin), and leaves skin smoother than I'd ever imagined possible. What I love most about it is that with frequent use (I actually use it once a day, in the morning), skincare products absorb more quickly and easily.

The remainder of my current skincare regime is now dominated by one brand, and one brand alone - Mario Badescu. And while the folks at MB were kind enough to send me some products to try out, I can really get behind this no frills, reasonably-priced, efficacious line - I would spend my hard-earned money on it in an instant. In my medicine cabinet at the mo'?

The Acne Facial Cleanser ($15)  might not foam as much as a girl would like, but it's gentle and non-drying despite a heavy dose of acne-fighting Salicylic Acid.

I used to think that toners were a bunch of hooey, but then some slick skincare expert managed to convince me that they ready the skin for the absorption of moisturizer.  Now, I'm committed. Or perhaps I need to be. Either way, I'm holding tight to the Special Cucumber Cleansing Lotion ($15). Again, it's GENTLE and it helps to remove any lingering New York City grime or makeup residue.

I'm obsessed, and I don't use the word lightly, with Badescu's Herbal Hydrating Serum ($30). This double-duty product can be layered over your moisturizer or for oilier skin types like mine, it can be used solo. It's ultra light and easily absorbed (yes, this is a theme), but effectively hydrates.  Just a wee, pea sized amount will do!

Last, but by no means least, are two treatment products - one for day and one for night. By day, I'm digging MB Drying Cream ($14) - when layered under concealer, it helps to tame breakouts and under the surface bumps before they get out of control and start a riot.  By night, it's all about either my standby Buffering Lotion or the beloved, cult-fave Drying Lotion ($17).  Avoid the temptation to shake this product, and instead use a Q-tip to snag some of the pink sediment. Dab lightly on existing zits and they'll shrink and dry out, almost overnight.

Are there any other gals out there that have discovered skincare miracle workers? Leave a comment and share your wisdom with the world!

Just wanted to let you know that I have been using Purity 12products for a few months now, and I have NEVER had this kind of reaction from other people before. I work in retail and my customers will tell me how perfect and flawless my skin looks almost every week! I’m like floating from too much flattering. My co-worker told me the other day I look 30 . . . I'm 43. My boss apologized for staring at my skin — he said it is so flawless! Haha! You can go to their website, I think it’s http://if1s.com?124
