Your Summer Shoe Capsule Wardrobe Has Arrived

I always laugh when I read "averages" as they relate to shoes. I mean, studies show that most women own around 20 pairs. Meanwhile, I have at least 20 pairs of boots alone. It's a rare season in which I don't cave on 5-10 new pairs - I know, I know, I have issues! - but this season, my move to minimalism has me focused on the perfect capsule. So, when DSW tasked me to participate in their Summer Lovin' Shoe Hook Up, I couldn't resist.  With a $250 gift card in hand, I visited the Union Square store and picked up the three pairs seen above, which could take me through, conceivably, every day of spring and summer, yes? Clockwise, from the top:

  • Dolce Vita's stacked heel gladiator ($124.95) dresses up (and sexes up) everything from denim (I'm rocking them with a boyfriend cut jean and white Theory blazer today) to a floaty floral dress.
  • A summer flip flop is a must, and I'm sorry to say that you've gotta invest in new every year - rubber flip flops harbor crazy bacteria! These Havaianas ($29.95) are just a notch more special than your classic style, lending versatility.
  • While a classic Birkenstock-style sandal can inspire passionate feelings that range from flat-out disgust to absolute adoration, I lean closer to the latter. I invested in the cult classic two-strap Arizona style ($89.95) to complement the white patent Gizeh already in my closet, and fully expect to wear them into the ground.

If you're itching for more summer shoe trends, consider a bright trainer, the perfect peep toe bootie (I can live without but would rather not) or a perfectly of-the-moment block heel.

Stay tuned for a special opportunity to win a $250 gift card of your own to DSW next week, and in the meantime, join DSW Rewards for perks on perks on perks, including a $10 Rewards Certificate for every 1,500 points earned. You can also shop online now at DSW with promo code HEATUP to receive $5 off 1 pair, $10 off 2 or $20 off 3 pairs (valid through May 5th!)

While all opinions, as always, are my own, this post was produced in partnership with DSW.
