Yesterday, in a fit of blind optimism, I took a detour to the Niketown store on 57th street with a pair of comfortable but stylish walking shoes in mind. You see, I'm probably the least fit, least athletic gal around and it's finally, really caught up to me. Friends, you know it's bad when you no longer fit into sample sizes.
Two observations struck me immediately in Niketown. First, sneakers are WAAAY uglier than the shoes I normally buy. Second, they're WAAAY less expensive than the shoes I normally buy. Coincidence? Somehow, I think not.
Anyhoo, I left Nike $85 poorer and with a pair of Air Miler Walks in hand - after trying on a few pairs, these seemed to be the lightest and most supportive. Now, all I need to do is put them to use. Cross your fingers for me...I'm putting down the Yodels right now.
