For the Love of Uggs

When thinking of the items that I appreciate and unequivocally love the entire time I'm wearing them, very few things come to mind. But you might be surprised to learn that at the top of that short list, particularly this time of year, are my beloved Uggs.

Yes, I know there's a huge contingent of Ugg haters in the world and I get it, I really do. Let's face it, they're not particularly flattering and to call them feminine would be a stretch. But haters, lend me your ear for just a moment and let me extol the virtues of the Ugg - they're fluffy, they're deliciously soft and most importantly, they're WARM. In fact, on a 12 degree New York day like, oh, for example, today, my feet stayed cushioned and toasty. From the knees up was a different story, of course.

What do you think? Do Uggs serve a greater sartorial purpose or are they just ugg-ly?

There just ugh! Every time I see them, I wonder why people wear these ugg-ly things. They should be named Ughs.

I have been a long-time, die-hard Ugg hater... But after the last big snow storm I got a pair of water proof semi-mtn-woman-looking Uggs and they are now my favorite part of winter. So, yeah, they're alright. :)

I'll admit, I've been a long time hater of Uggs... until this past Christmas season. My Floridian, warm weather only, self ended up in the middle of the cold, winter storm that hit Maryland the week before Christmas. I didn't pack anything warmer than dress boots and ballet flats (hey, I'm from FL!), but barely balked when my soon-to-be mother in-law offered me her Uggs to keep warm. I was instantly in heaven!! They're comfy, soft, WARM!... everything Dina says they are in her post!

So while I'm back home in the sunny south, I've ordered myself a nice pair of knit Uggs and plan on rocking them with my leggins and skirts... well, until March- then it's beach season!

I was an Ugg virgin until recently but the Bailey Button Uggs have completely transformed my opinion of these boots. I have sucky circulation in my hands and feet and she's right - feet stay warm in subzero temps without heavy socks. They're ugly as homemade sin but bless 'em, they work and I love mine.

After I purchased my first pair two years ago, I cannot go a winter without them. No matter how I feel about their "look" - the comfy and coziness compensates for any potential ill feeling toward them.

For years I have not been a fan of the uggs, I think they just look like moon boots and completely unsexy. A month ago I broke down after freezing my feet off for months in ice rinks, my husband bought me a pair as an early christmas present and they rarely leave my feet now. They are so incredibly warm that I am content to give up style in favor of warmth... And after wearing them for awhile now, the look has started to grow on me!

Does everything have to be "sexy"? Why so fixated on one tiny style of life? Why not just look cute or comfy or fun or practical or NORMAL?

I've spent so much money on Uggs. Purchased all the colors in the Tall Classic Uggs this past year. Just couldn't help it, total addiction. Better sticking with the Classics because they will always be in style. Whatever... I'm sick of Uggs because I wore them so much in 2009, but I'll love them again this fall and winter.
