My Night With Ed Burns (Also, Does Anyone Rock Plaid Better?)

It's not every night that I spend with an award-winning actor, screenwriter and director and that's UNFORTUNATE, to say the least.

Last week, however, I got what I deserve and had the great pleasure of not only screening Ed Burns' new flick Nice Guy Johnny, but also meeting the man himself, as well as actress Kerry Bishé, the female lead in the film.

While it was all well and good to meet Ed (Yes, he is terribly handsome.  Yes, his Long Island accent is somehow becoming, as opposed to offensive. Yes, he wears plaid in a way that no other man could, conceivably.), the real star of this show is undoubtedly Bishé.

Not only does she give a spectacularly natural and understated performance in the flick (available on DVD and online on October 26), but she can also use the word "zeitgeist" correctly in a sentence, and reference New York Times features like no other.

Shot on a shoestring budget - just $25,000 - and in just 10 days, Nice Guy Johnny is a thoughtful, coming of age comedy/drama.

Check out the full trailer below, fan the flick on Facebook for updates, and be sure to settle in for a movie night (safer now with all the bed bug scares anyhoo, yes?) on October 26.
