Fit for Fall with Old Navy's Rockstar Skinnies

It's not every Friday that I spend walking a runway in Bryant Park, but last week, thanks to Old Navy's fun Fit for Fall event, I did just that. And let me tell you, it was a lot more nerve-wracking than I expected!

I arrived on set to a mega-production - a huge stage on the hallowed grounds of Bryant Park, with lines of women ready to swap out their jeans and strut their stuff. Fellow bloggers were finding their perfect fit, while actress Jenny McCarthy was preparing to host the show, looking gorgeous in tone-on-tone purple (she rocked Rockstar Pop-Color Jeans in Plummy Mummy.)

I couldn't resist taking a bit of inspiration from Jenny when I styled my look, seen below and on the runway (see if you can spot me in the vid below!) Here's what I wore:

What’s in My Bag for My Best Night Ever: Girls’ Night Out Edition

Paring down the contents of my Giant Day bag (no really, I generally carry a Balenciaga Giant Day) to a smaller cross-body beauty like the Katherine Kwei Donna Sling bag seen above can be QUITE the challenge. But a pending girls’ night out tonight makes the swap a necessity.

After taking a quick shower, complete with a vigorous body scrub and a shampoo and condition with CLEAR SCALP & HAIR BEAUTY THERAPY™ to ensure strong, beautiful hair, I put on one of my summer staples – think a short silk dress or romper – and grab a compact, downtown-friendly evening bag to-go. Here are the essentials that I take along for the ride. Once you’re prepped and ready (including great hair), you’re bound to have your Best Night Ever:

Wanna chat more about Girls’ Night Out accessories and style? Join me, @SydneSummer,@FashionStBeauty and @ClearHair for a Friday afternoon Twitter party today, Friday, July 13 at 1pm EST!

We'll be sharing style advice that will guarantee your #bestnightever and we'd love for you to join in the conversation. Tweet your best “get ready” tips for girls night out and you’ll even be entered for a chance to win one of four great prizes. Deets here: Bestnightever.promojam.com.

OOTD: It's All About the Pants

With an ass and thighs like mine, it's nothing short of AMBITIOUS to think that a pair of skinny cargo pants could work.  But the J. Brand Houlihans are inexplicably THAT pair of pants that looks good on (almost) everyone.

The magic's in both the fabric (it's thick enough to hold in any unsightly bulges) and the cut. My favorite element is the ankle zip, which can (in essence) turn these into a straight or boot cut cargo in a flash.

As I am prone to do, I did snag the Houlihans in multiple - Vintage Olive and Sharkskin, seen above.  Here's the rest of my Friday look:

  • Tom Ford Jennifer Sunglasses
  • J.Crew Cami (no longer available)
  • Balenciaga Giant Day Bag in Electric Turquoise (color no longer available, other colors here)
  • Joie flats (no longer available)
  • Hayden-Harnett (no longer available) Cuff and Rebecca Minkoff Loop Bracelet
  • Dannijo and Forever 21 necklaces (no longer available)

Grab a pair of your own J. Brand Houlihans for $231 at Tobi.

OOTD: Woman in Black

Steamy weather has certainly arrived, but despite the fact, yesterday felt like a day for embracing black. Before you ask, no, I'm not in mourning, but black is a power color and one with a perennial place in my wardrobe (seasonality be damned!)

Yesterday was particularly notable as it marked my acquisition of my second Coach piece - the gorgeous leather satchel shown above. It will hold a place of honor in my closet, along with the amazing Sara boots.

Head to toe deets:
