Nick Arrojo Replaced by Ted Gibson on What Not to Wear?

Hair master Ted Gibson (stylist to Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie and Debra Messing, among other celebs) announced today on Twitter that today is his "1st day as the hair guru on" TLC's What Not to Wear, presumably replacing the stylist fans love to hate, Nick Arrojo.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Ted several times in both his salon and backstage at New York Fashion Week and I can attest to the fact that he's not only talented - he's also darling and delightful.  To learn more about Ted, his salons and product line, visit www.tedgibsonbeauty.com. Why do they love to hate Nick?? He does seem to favor giving women what I call egg shaped hair cuts, but I never thought he was a jerk.

Hey Anonymous - I don't think anyone dislikes Nick "personally" - I happen to think he's a doll, myself. But I know that on a lot of the fashion and beauty boards/forums, the cuts he chooses to do get a lot of hate from viewers!

saradd said...

Are you kidding, I LOVE NICK! I'm sooo sad that he is leaving!

Anonymous said...

Nick certainly hates long hair. He wants to cut everyone's hair. He would cut Farrah Fawcett's hair, or Carmindy's hair.

I hope I don;t have to hear him say any longer...I have to cut a lot off.....what is he looking for...bugs?

He has ruined more hairstyles in the past year than bring the best out in people. He reduces people to tears. I would not let him near my hair...

It is time for a change......

Nick should be replaced.

He feels EVERYONE should have short hair. seems to hate long hair and curls.

is he jealous.?

get rid of him. He is terrible.

Anonymous said...

I completely agree. My room mate had a theory that he cuts everyone's hair in a mullet. Its pretty accurate, give or take. He'll cut off people's long hair and give them short layers around the face and an awkward length in the back.

He seemed like a nice enough guy, but who knows where my hair would go if I let him near it!

Anonymous said...

Bullshit. Nick cuts hair fine. everyone gets a different cut, those who complain about the short hair dont have a clue about hairstyling to suit a persons face.

ABOUT FRIGGIN' TIME! No matter what good job Stacy and Clinton would do on a client, we could always count on Nick to mess it up with his horrible haircuts (the "helmet" was his favorite) that made every woman look like a soccer mom. No imagination and the same haircut over and over again. Good riddance.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, the people that gripe that he cut all their hair off probably shouldn't have long hair in the first place. Here's some news ladies...NOT EVERYONE LOOKS GOOD WITH ALL ONE LENGTH HAIR PARTED DOWN THE MIDDLE OR SIDE...actually, nobody does.

Anonymous said...

I'm thrilled he's being let go. HE does 99% of ugly bobs that don't make the women look glamerous or feel beautiful, he'll cut all the beautiful hair of a woman saing that length isn't flattering??? I have never dated (my husband included) that didn't LOVE my long hair.. So yeah!!!!!! Maybe they'll kick Carmindy off next? Miss "Natural Beauty" is so covered in makeup it isn't even funny. She's caked, (she has freckles, lots, can you tell?) all the while telling women how lovely their freckles are. And to go natural, five minutes to put on our face? Maybe, but not for her, last show her pink and purple eyeshadow and shimmering cheeks with bright pink/rose lipstick.....................She looked like a call girl and what was up with her boobs? They were in the middle of her stomach on the show the other day, for a flat chested woman she certainly does fill out her dresses well, she's definitely gained weight. Stacey is rude and yet has four or five commercial accounts, Clinton is almost human, and Nick? Well get lost, don't let the door hit you in the ass, and take Carmindy with you. Bring in a True Natural Beauty to do the makeup, someone not all consumed by their own beauty..
Ten Years younger is much better and far more positive, I think WNTW has worn out it's welcome. I can dream can't I?

Nick Arrojo is an amazing hairstylist. The haircuts he gives those women are to suit THOSE women. You can't make a freak into a beauty queen, thats silly. A hairdressers job is to make people look the best they can with what they've got and if they can work with it (blowdry/style ect.). What do you expect him to do, do a boring long layered haircut on everyone?? he's awesome and is a great hairdresser.

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness Nick is being replaced!!! I've always thought it would be fun to be on the show, but it wouldn't be worth the $5,000 to have Nick butcher my hair. Just because it is "different" or "a change" doesn't mean it looks better. The only person who didn't looked hideous after Nick cut her hair was Camilla (and he could have shaved her head and she still would have looked like a supermodel). Anyway, I'm glad he's moving on... and hopefully he's taking his helmet template (also known as a plastic bowl) and his mullet rub with him.

Now I am going to have to disagree about Carmandy and Stacy and Clinton. I think they are great. I love the way Carmandy does make up. She keeps the ladies simple. One thing they could add is her asking the women what look they would like? and then teach them that look on the show. But I think her doing the natural is easy for women to grasp whom may have never really don makeup before. Love Stacy and CLinton. however, i dont think Clinton gets as much pool as he should, Like Stacy But Clinton is the more wittiest and funniest. Stacy over talks him sometime and cuts him off which can be rude, but she doesnt need to be replaced.
NOW NICK...sorry but good riddens. you are a one cut wonder. Same ole cut for everybody. Not everybody has to have short hair. You give every lady on the show the same look. If they go back into the shows, they will not see one difference in any of the hair styles. I would love to see the new person go all the way short (when necessary and complimentary) or stay long with layers etc... BRING ON THE NEW GUY,,,HURRRY

Anonymous said...

His cuts do seem to look the same, week to week. But a lot of those women are lucky to have any hair left considering the damage they've done. And just having long hair doesn't mean it's attractive or even pretty; case in point, that Texas belle Jesse who went back to looking like an aging Hollywood star after Nick gave her a gorgeous cut and color (with bangs!). She needed a psychiatrist. I wonder if her whining is the reason she got a divorce! Come to think of it, her daughter could have used a MAJOR cut job with a weed whacker. LONG does not equal PRETTY!

Anonymous said...

I don't get why everyone is complaining about how he ALWAYS cuts it short. The point of the show is to try something new. In the end the contributors almost always love their new look. I loved Nick, but I'm sure this new guy will be awesome.

Anonymous said...

I'm gonna have to agree with him leaving. I've been watching this over the last couple of weeks, and every single person he did had an absolutely HORRIBLE haircut. I don't know what he's doing, but he's not good. He made one woman cry and she didn't want to come out. He definitely needs to be replaced.

matt w said...

I'm so glad he's leaving. He seems like an awesome guy and I'm sure he truly puts effort into his styles, but why must every woman's cut be short and fugly. No one comes out glamorous or dazzling... its just comfortable enough for the women to handle during their busy lives so they don't have to work to hard on fixing anything. I get that... ease and comfort are what these people are going for. But I'm pretty sure its possible with long hair too. My mother always says a woman's hair is her crown and glory, but Nick seems to think its just a hat:P I feel bad for the last lady from Texas who couldn't even appreciate her look because she felt incomplete. Its one thing for other people to tell her she looks better, but she has to feel it, and I don't think Nick appreciated what the people wanted.

Anonymous said...

I do think Nick has been giving a similar hairstyle lately but, I think they still look very good. I think if he wants to move on great if not, great. I think that Carmindy is wonderful and does the best make-up job EVER! Stacy and Clinton are the funniest.

Anonymous said...

Nick is a sadist. He gets an evil GLEAM in his eyes when he sees someone attached to their long hair and instead of working with them to find a style they love, he taunts them with "I'm going to cut a LOT of hair off" and "this is just the beginning, a lot more hair is coming off" and he just seems to ENJOY bringing people to tears. I can't stand the guy. Every once in a while someone will stand up to him. Long hair IS sexy to a log of people, and as long as it's healthy why not do a long style???? I don't see Stacey and Carmendy with short haircuts.

carolyn Lazare said...

Nick is a scissor happy dufus. I thought i was the only one who found his cuts unimaginative, uninspiring and flat out boring. He lacks the creativeness to be a good stylist. EVERYBODY GETS THE SAME RAZOR CUT MUSHROOM WHETHER 16 OR 60. The women look like clones of each other. Is he the only man of earth who doesn't like long hair on women??? Every time i hear the "take your hair out of the ponytail so i can see what's going on" i cringe cuz i know what's coming next lol sad...sad...sad.... it's always "go home and enjoy' after he's made the women look like trolls and then he slinks out the door with his shoulders all hunched cuz he knows he sucks. buh bye Nicky poo won't miss you.....time for a new stylist who is hip , fresh and young who's gonna embrace a woman's INDIVIDUALITY . As for Carmindy i find her talented with makeup..she serves her purpose although i find her fake.

Anonymous said...

Nick may be a nice person but his cuts were unflattering at best! They were all the same also which was getting on my nerves. He was making all the women look like Prince Valiant.

I hope the new stylist brings some pizzazz!

Nick is the only reason I watched WNTW, but as soon as they change stylists I will no longer watch. I happen to be a cosmetologist and love to learn all the style and cutting tips. Nick dosen't get enough credit , but on the other hand he won't be tied down to a stupid reality show and will have more time to teach students, cosmetologists , and clients.

Bring on Ted! said...

I can's WAIT to see Ted Gibson on WNTW!!! Nick is a disaster! Ugly bobs and helmet hair is all he knows how to do. That poor lady from Texas got an aging ugly haircut. No wonder she couldn't enjoy her make-over. Nick turned what should have been a wonderful experience into a tragic miserable disaster.

Buh-Bye, Nick!

I really don't understand who could possibly think Nick is good. And those that write here that do, are so angry. Jesus, relax. Get over it. He is completely hopeless with a huge ego and no sense of what is sexy. You dont have to keep everyones hair long, but why do I know (as everyone does) what he's about to do with most of the women? If I were married to any of these poor women, I would be pissed, hair has everything to do with everything. For instance. There was an actress on CSI Miami, she had long gorgeous hair, she was a drop dead knockout, I looked her up online to see what else she had done, and her hair was much shorter. She looked cute, but not gorgeous as she had. Carmindy and Stacey are sexy with long hair. Carmindy is actually a knock out with her longer curled hair, when it was short, she was pretty, but that's it. Nick is not at all someone I would consider to be sweet or adorable, he really doesn't have a personality. Stacy is basically just .... blunt, but I don't think she has anything special, the tv people must because she had about five commercials now, so who knows what anyone really thinks. Clinton seems real, and then there is Carmindy. Wow, now there is a woman that is pretty with makeup and a hell of a lot of it whether or not it looks good, but without makeup? She is far from someone with "natural beauty" she HAS to wear makeup, no wonder she's so good at it. Not to mention she is so fake and so completely in love with herself, I thank God she's not on long. Someone should really bitch slap her one of these days, she really thinks she's better than everybody else. When she comes on, it's race to the remote between my husband and myself to change the channel and quick. There are thousands of fantastic makeup artists, but that are real, natural not ready for a cocktail party, which I was at once when she was there with a couple of her ex model friends, ohhhhhhh so natural. not. When someone came up to her that actually knew who she was, she changed completely. Once the person was gone, she was a trash mouth, stuck up bitch. Her books say volumes about her. No one with any class would fill their books with pictures of herself. She says she doesn't like celebrities, which is such a lie, she's dying to be one and hang with the more popular crowd.
Nick is just like her, only not as bad.
wow, who knew I was going to vent like that, sorry,. I just don't think Nick is worth crying over, a celebration??????????? Absolutely. It's no accident he got replaced. The complaints by the MO's that come pouring in after being butchered left the producers no choice. And as for Car, the people just dont' see through her. Either way, who really cares? It's just a stupid show, one of hundreds of Reality shows that still come pumping out weekly. Celebrity used to mean something, now, ANYONE, at any time, could be on their own show, it sickens me. And whats with the Tattoo Shows? Since the Economy is so shitty, thanks you bastard GW, people can only afford to watch TV now, I guess they have to fill the gammet with shows for everyone, but don't you find it funny that commercial after commercial there are people who at least I, have no idea who they are. So many writers with great Treatments get blown off, while they produce all this crap.
Shutting up now, sorry, like I said, needed to vent.

Anonymous said...

holy cow, now that was long. I dont have to say anything now, it's all been said. Nick see ya you lasted way longer than you should have, you are no God, so get the hell over yourself. Carmindy I think most people know is fake, she can go too. In fact, the entire show has run it's length, I say cancel it and start over.

Anonymous said...

All I can say is Yea! I have never seen a cut and thought. "wow" which is what should really be said every time. I also agree with the others about his bobs and cuts. I think Ted is delightful, really which should be a change for that show,

Anonymous said...

Wow, the morons are out in force on this site.

Do you really think Nick "hates long hair," and is egotistical? What women need to learn is that length for length's sake is wrong--what's most important is a cut that fits you, your face and coloring.

Where does all the hate come from? I don't understand all the ranters and ravers here. Do you talk to your friends, family and co-workers like this? If you're this angry and hateful then the problem has nothing to do with a television show and everything to do with YOU.

Anonymous said...

I don't think people care about Nicks personality, who gives a crap. His job is to help people to love the way they look and to bring out their best. HE DOES NOT DO THAT, and anyone who actually thinks he's good at his job, knows nothing about style, hair or how hair dressers are supposed to behave. HE ALWAYS give the same cut, how is that fitting the style for the particular person, if they all have the same cut he ISN'T acting as a hairdresser, not GOD. Women LOVE their hair, really love it. After cutting it short from long, most women have nightmares nightly about having their hair back. There is no reason to cut it all off for the sake of not having long hair.
Carmindy's hair lately has looked fantastic, they curl it and spray each curl, which takes a while to get the look, but it's hot, and perhaps not for everyone, but the point is made, she looks gorgeous with her hair this way. As someone else said, when it was shorter she looked cute, but not hot.

I guarantee that when the MO hits Carms world, she must just want to cry for them. IT's evil to take someones hair and cut it so short, the same cut he gave the girl before her, and before her, and before her. The only difference is for women with curly hair, where he still cuts it short only it ends up looking like a boy or mullet. Why would so many people who have not compared notes, be venting the same thing, saying the same exact wording regarding his cuts. He was there far too long, yes I think he has an attitude and one that may be nice in the real world, but of all those on the show, he's the worst at making the people better. AND YES, sometimes, the other night in fact, the cut works for the woman. Sometimes it looks great, but I can still look at her and see how he could have done another cut, still a style and sassy, but not always so damn short. That is very traumatic for women, very.
As far as Hate, I dont' think people hate, they are just venting., That is what these "comments" are, people venting, and quite obviously the guy has really gotten under people's skin or they wouldn't be venting "hate" or whatever. This site is doing exactly what it was created for. Venting.
And since Nick could care what "we" think, hell he doesn't care about his client, and if there is a sense of hate here, perhaps it's because he has caused it with his absolute conceit and "power monger" attitude with the women before they even sit down.

People dont' discuss this usually why? Because they came here to vent. People are allowed to vent, what? Are you perfect? You don't get irritated when people do things that may piss you off? Most of us just dont' say anything. They come to the internet and vent. I don't think you are exactly the person who should be giving critiques or advice considering your post is the most negative on here.
And if people have issues, who the hell are you to even give a crap whether or not people dislike Nick or not? Are you some kind of saint? And your psychological profile that "everything to do with you", is actually weird. What the hell do you care, it IS JUST PEOPLE VENTING, something that Nick brought on himself, OH, and btw, he got fired so clearly the show thinks what the public thinks, he's got to go.
As do you.

Anonymous said...

Wow, Ted Gibson is amazing. It's not just the cuts, it's him. He is REAL. The only person except maybe Clinton, on this show that is REAL. He is so personable, and really wants to know what you want, not what HE wants..... hint hint Nick. You lost your job to your own conceit Nick. The person and their hair come first. And being adorable and warm, is something that has always been missing from Nick, and Carmindy as well. Although she at least tries to pretend to be real, though everyone over 17 knows she's fake. Too bad, people want to see REAL people, feel comfortable with them, not that they are with people who obviously think, talk and act as if they're so much better. No one is better than anyone. When will they learn that? Maybe when they're at home, watching what used to be their jobs.

So, what a relief that Nick is finally moving on...

You know what really bugged me about him, apart from the fact the he so very much enjoyed eliciting a big emotional reaction from all the poor women who didn't want short hair? He always cut curly hair very short and then gave it a blow out to make it poker straight....all very well and good, except curly hair shrinks approximately 2 inches shorter when it dries! I know, I have very curly hair. If I had experienced one of his "torture" cuts, I would have been devastated, especially the next day when I wasn't able to blow dry it poker straight. And, I don't like to blow dry my hair straight...I LIKE it curly! What happened to the radical concept of cutting curly hair properly to work WITH the curl????

Just my thoughts.....

Anonymous said...

During the first couple seasons, I think Nick did a great job, But I have noticed the last couple seasons, the cuts have been more hit or miss. Maybe he's just grown tired of the whole thing. Maybe the people coming on the show are becoming more difficult or demanding to work with. And let's face it, some of them had absolutely hideous hair that had tons of damage. I think a lot of times their hair ends up on the shorter side because he does try to get rid of the crappy pieces of hair.

But it never hurts to change things up a little. I'll be interested in seeing what the new guy does.

Anonymous said...

I think getting rid of Nick is the worst mistake they could have made. I will not watch the show if he isn't on it. Most women cry BEFORE he cuts it, and anything after that is almost always happy tears. He is an amazing stylist, and no two cuts are "identical" as so many people are saying. He doesn't hate long hair, some people keep a lot of length. He only cuts off the dead stuff or split ends. He gives the hair shape. Having long hair does nothing for a person's face. He's doing the right thing buy cutting most women's hair.

Also, he never cuts it that short. I had long hair, down past my waist, and I went from that to a pixie cut. THAT is short. Shoulder length is still considered long. 90% of women love the style after he's done, and she should not be let go.

Anonymous said...

I will miss Nick; he's my favorite part of the show. WNTW won't be the same without him, but I'll give Ted Gibson a chance. As for "always the same cut", I disagree, but longtiime viewers know that many of the makeup and clothes tips are pretty standard, too. Stacy even jokes about it in the ad for the show, structured jacket, long straight jeans/trousers, etc. Maybe the truth is that generalizations exist because they are universally flattering.

Anonymous said...

There is a reason that Nick says that he has to cut many of the women's hair short. Any GOOD hairstylist knows that it is nearly impossible to save severely damaged hair. These women probably haven't cut their hair in years and have horrible porosity. I don't think people give short hair enough of a chance. I would let Nick cut my hair and I don't let ANYONE but my sister cut my hair. He does a damn good job with what he's presented with. He doesn't give the same haircut to every single person, they look very different to me. If I lived in New York I would love to be his student.

He might come off as conceited because he actually does know best. He has his own school and is world renowned. Very few of the people sitting in his chair actually know anything about hair. If people aren't mature enough to handle a dramatic cut then they shouldn't have agreed to be on the show. I would threaten to take away all the new clothes and not air the episode if they gave Nick sass and disrespect the way some of them do.

Now I have to say something about Carmindy. She is one of the worst makeup artists I have ever seen. She rarely finishes the job and never gets the foundation color correct. I doubt she's even been to cosmo school. If they replace anyone it should be her. It would also be nice if she would start wearing bras under her burlap sack dresses.

Dear Anonymous, Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:40pm: the return key is your friend.

I'm ambivalent about Nick. He could've stayed on the show forever and that would have been fine. A new face is fine too.

Anonymous said...

i think nick has done a great job for the most part. i have only seen a couple of cuts that i thought were not particularly flattering. and he has left length on women when they were insistent. the issue is, very few people have the body and facial bone structure to carry off long hair AND people come with a lot of damage on their ends. i believe he truly is trying to cut to best flatter each individual face + at the same time get rid of some damage. i think he gets it right 95% of the time. i can only remember ONCE where the person did not look any better or a little worse after.

i suspect people with have similar complaints about the new stylist...

I'm extremely sad that Nick is leaving. I may stop watching the show altogether. It's always been my dream to have Nick do my hair. And yes, he does cut people's hair shorter, but look at their long hair, it looked like Cr@p. After he's done, it looks great. I'm very sad!!!! Nick come back!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I've got my hair in an uneven bob. When my sister cut it off in class I thought I was going to cry. Short hair is easier to maintain & can be totally sexy and fun. Have any of you been to cosmo school? I have and I can tell you that short hair is better than damaged hair.
Carmady is a bad make-up artist & should leave, too.

I think Nick is alright but not the best that the show could have. As far as the people he couldn't really help, they looked like sh*t to begin with, hello, he's a beautician NOT a magician! Ted Gibson is a celeb stylist and well known in the industry. I vant wait to see what he does on the show!

Anonymous said...

I couldn't agree more that Nick needs to go. I love his accent and charming demeanor, but his cuts are matronly and far from feminine. He has no appreciation for hair that is shorter than chin-length. Yes, the contributors need something new, fresh and different, but even on the rare occasion when a woman comes to the show with healthy, beautiful long hair, he chops it into a soccer-mom do instead of giving it shape and style. I wouldn't let him touch me with a 10-foot pole. On the other hand, I can't believe anyone would say that Carmindy needs to go. She does a phenomenal job and she couldn't be more beautiful herself.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why fans love to hate Nick. I thought he was great. He seemed like he like to have fun and the hairstyles were also great.

Okay, LISTEN UP! Those of you who think that Nick Arrojo is a wonderful hairstylist either 1. have short hair and don't remember when was the last time they felt sexy and 2. do not understand the complexities of a woman and her desire to feel beautiful. I have watched this show since it first started, so I can certainly speak from experience. Short hair cuts and long hair cuts can be BOTH beautiful on a face. BUT...when an insensitive hairstylist like Nick, chops off a woman's gorgeous long hair because he simply DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CUT LONG HAIR...then my friends, we have a problem. When I see these women cry and cringe with pain as they look at their finished style OR when Nick viciously waves their fallen chunks of hair in their face, I must say that he truly is a cruel stylist. I wouldn't let him TOUCH my hair. I know for a fact that the second he would look at me, he would say "Alright, now today we're going to cut a lot off". And my reply would be " No, Nick you will not, you will listen to ME and my thoughts instead of doing whatever the fuck you want on MY hair". He DOES NOT LISTEN! And listening is crucial to making your clients happy. Women especially are very sensitive to their looks, and want to feel sexy! Who doesn't want to be a head turner?? And those women who are in the dating scene, I'm sorry but men LOVE to run their hands through long beautiful hair....it's sexy. But women CAN also look sexy with short hair. It's a preference and a decision that MUST be agreed upon by BOTH THE CLIENT AND THE STYLIST. People have too much faith in Nick simply because he is on a tv show. Well I believe that this does not make a hairstylist reputable. Nick needs to take a class into understanding the human emotion, and how women's minds work since his clients are primarily female. Making a client cry is NEVER a good thing. For example, the woman from texas was DEVASTATED that her hair was gone. I was so happy that for once she did something about it and took action against Nick. This may have been the catalyst to his termination. My opinion was that she looked terrible. She looked like an old woman with that short hair, and it was clear that she was trying to maintain a youthful look. So don't criticize her for that, its not wrong for mothers to want to stay beautiful even though they have 5 kids. Moms still want to look sexy for their husbands, instead of falling into the "Soccer Mom" category of casual dreariness, and loss of feminity. I am so thrilled to see what new life Ted Gibson will bring to the show.

All of u posting against Nick must be long, greasy haired porkers who wouldn't think a hair cut looked good if it weren't half way down your back with no shape or layers. Guess what ladies, and I use the term loosely, long greasy stringy hair never looked good. If your man is so worried about his women having long hair so that he doesn't feel like he is with a guy, then you must be doing something wrong! Most of u prob couldn't afford a haircut from Nick anyway! Nick's cuts look great, just bc everyone doesn't look like a country bumpkin doesn't mean there is something wrong with him. It's you that needs a new idea of what looks good!

Anonymous said...

And furthermore, of course he nor Carmindy doesn't ask the contestant what look they want... They r not there bc the won a fashion contest, they r there bc their friends and family were too embarrassed to be seen with them any longer, so no, I wouldn't think that N or C would ask the clients advice!!!

The people that dislike what Nick does must have long hair that is totally overdue for a cut or blind. People always tend to think they look good in long hair when they look absolutely awful; I would love to see their hair. Anyway, Nick has done a great job and I will truly miss him. I wish him the best.

Nick always cut hair short - regardless. Yet both Carmandy and Stacy both have very long hair. There is a real disconnect between what they have and what is force on the clientele. Yes, some do need a good cut because they clearly haven't been taking care of their hair in the first place, but others could use to have their long hair treated and styled...not butchered. Stacy and Carmandy should let Nick do their hair! Then see how quickly the shears go back in the drawer!

Anonymous said...

Nick has done beautiful cuts and styles on the show. I am still confused why they decided to let him go. I am a licensed cosmetologist and can clearly say that every hairstyle is different. Usually they haven't went to the salon for a cut in many years and\or it is severely damaged by hair color or to much blow drying. Also many have used box color which has to be grown out and cut out before coloring;otherwise the metal dyes in the box color will react with the new application of professional salon color. Nick knows exactly what to do and i am here to back him.

Why are most women so obssesed with long hair? Nick Arrojo wasn't a bad stylist because he cut off people's hair, it was because he didn't choose the best hairstyles for some of these women. Besides, some of the most feminine and beautiful and iconic women have had super short boyish hair, Natalie Portman, Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn, ect. Length does not equal beauty or femininity, it can actually (and often does) equal just the opposite. I never felt feminine of pretty until I cut my hair into a super short pixie cut. That's not to say that short hair is for everyone, it most certainly is not. The point is choose the hair style/length based on what is best for your face, not on other people's opinion of "sexiness"

Something else I forgot to add, not all men love long hair on women. Those who do are assholes more often than not.

I'm happy nick is leaving. I find his imagination for women's hair boring, dull, and lacking in creativity.
I like Carmindy's make up expertize but even her i'm finding it's becoming redundant. That same pinky sheer gloss on the lips and always the outline of the lids close to the upper lash line. I'd like to see her branch out a little more with different makeup looks. She's also fake with her sweetie and gorgeous comments all the time . It's like c'mon...... Stop pouring on the Velveeta Carmindy. it's a little too thick don't you think LOL

Actually nick is constantly doing a layered bob on 90% of the people. So I think maybe people got a bit bored with him and his inability to change. Im happy to see he is gone so people can learn that just because your going for a makeover doesnt mean you have to chop off your hair. As a hairstylist i watch him using the same technique and the same structure...its boring.

I don't really seem to mind some of the haircuts that Nick does, the thing that bothers me is that a lot of them look the same. He sometimes will do a cute cut but I find that he goes through stages and then will give everyone that haircut. He went through a bob stage and gave everyone a bob and now he is going through a bang stage and is giving everyone a bang. The main reason I don't really like him is that he NEVER leaves anybody blond he always dies it brown and for somebody with natural blond hair I find it offensive. BLOND hair is beautiful to.

I also forgot to mention that he ALWAYS, ALWAYS uses that STUPID razor.

"Wow, the morons are out in force on this site."
well said! And if all of you truly watch the show like you say, the women are crying before he cuts their hair not after. And all in all, it's a tv show, I'm sure Nick will recover fine, watch the show, don't watch the show, whatever.

1. I think Nick's a great asset to the show, and I am unhappy he will be leaving; he's one of my favorite parts of the show. 2. None of those women he's cut the hair of needed to remain looking as they did; that's why they are on the show, and they looked much better with a more appropriate cut for their face. (Which were NOT always short.) 3. I am not sure why someone would assume that a woman with short hair has no idea what it's like to feel womanly, as someone said previous in the comments; I am not sure I've read a more ridiculous statement, truly. I have had long and short and medium length hair, presently it is quite short, and I feel just as sexy and attractive, regardless. I am quite aware of "the complexities of a woman", seeing as I AM one, plus not only have I watched the show since it started as well, I am 50 years old and have felt womanly since way before this show was on. Sorry, that really was an uninformed comment. As I've always said, the women on the show agree ahead of time to the rules; deal with it, or give the money back, you know? Regarding the new stylist, Ted - hey, I'm sure he'll be all right; however, judging from the women he's been a stylist for - Jolie and whomever else - there is NOTHING particularly inventive about their hairstyles, and just long hair shouldn't be the end-all, be-all - it should be whatever works for the woman, since that's the idea of the show. Anyhow, I'll truly miss Nick, and as one woman said, I'd be thrilled to have the man do my hair, as well!

Many women do not realize when their hair is making them look older and unattractive. YES, especally older women who do not embrace change and been wearing the same hairstyle for 30 years. Much like the woman (this season) from Texas who like a baby refused to embrace the great haircut that Nick gave her along with the more youthful look. When she put the weave in her hair at the end of the show she aged herself by about ten years. Nick, like any good hair stylist tries to make them see that hair is "an accessory." Hair should not be a woman's "crutch" but rather a part of a way to enhance her beauty. For you that think that only long hair makes a woman look sexy, you are dead wrong. Additionally, I feel that Carmandy could benefit from a haircut and still look as hot as many of you think she is. Wake up!

Nick iswonderful! Andthere is nothing wrong with short hair cuts! He is just not stuck on theidea that pretty hair is long hair. I have only not liked 1 haircut I saw on the show, buthe is wonderful at what he does.
ps PRETTY HAIR NEED NOT BE LONG!

Well, the magic of the show will be gone. You can't mess with success, and the show is truely
sucessful. When you tweek something that doesn't really need tweeking you've lost the magic.
All four of these people; Clinton, Stacy, Nick, and Carmindy, are the show...plain and simple.
I think it's the death of the show...no matter who they get rid of. I really do like what all of them
do, and they do a really good job...and funny too. So sorry....I probably will fade away from the
show. WHY...because the MAGIC is gone.......

I really don't know what all you Nick haters are talking about...although I will agree that he seemed to prefer shorter hair to longer hair, you all have to remember one thing...What Not to Wear is a MAKEOVER show...that means people are chosen to be MADE OVER...If they already have long hair and it is not working for them, Nick has to give them a style that is going to work for them. Whether or not those people, mainly women, like short hair is besides the point and 99 out of 100 of the times, the hairstyles that he has given them have suited both their overall looks and their personalities. Why would he just give them a new color and some highlights and be done with it when he can give them an entirely new style. Nick understands that he is working on a MAKEOVER show, essentially, and most of you commenting need to realize that...

WELL DONE Nick! Your portion of the show was one that many viewers (at least the ones who understood what your work was all about) waited for and enjoyed. It is sad to see you go...I wish you continued success in all your future endeavors and hopefully we will see you on TV again real soon!

Is anyone getting tired of Carmindy using the same makeup brand? I know it was inspired by her and she wants people to buy it but it does not have the pigment of professional brands like Nars and the other brands she used to use. Some people look washed out after she is done. They used to look a lot better when she used a variety of brands. Also, I am very glad Nick is gone. He enjoyed being mean to people, trying to scare them - "I am going to cut it very short" throwing the hair he cut at them and showing his anger if they did not go along with his ideas.

SHUT UP...Dammit. The show was good.
call me stupid...where was I. I saw none of this. I've been looking at some of Nick's hair styles online. Hello...I say HELLO, look for yourselves...long and cute...sexy...short...sexy. You people are so caught up into yourselves........whatever. I'd say some of you are stylist in NY and are jealous.
I was a viewer of this show, just dumb and stupid enjoying the show. I thinking Nick was a showman, thats why he acted as he did. Do any of you remember the "Giant Long Haired Nanny"
that refused to let him cut her butt length hair? That girl was obnoxious and I couldn't stand her,
She looked like crap and the before and after didn't look any different. GROSS!!!!!
He is Great and Carmindy...you go girl. Stacy...Shut up...your good. Clinton you shut up too.
They are all GOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!

I'm sad to see Nick leave...if I had the finances I would let him do whatever he wants with my hair...I think he gives these woman very stunning hair styles that are easy to manage...most womwn need to realize that they don't look good with long hair with no shape...what are you in grade school? we as woman need to find cuts and color that suit are shape and coloring...as we get older our shapes change too and many woman don't want to admit that they aren't 20 anymore...plus remember it's hair it will grow back...it;s not gone forever...as for Ted Gibson who will be seen tomorrow night 7/24...I've seen him on tv and he seems like he will fit right in...way too many woman out there walking around trying to look 20 instead of trying to look like the best 40 yo or 50 yo out there and can stilll look sexy and beautiful.

I for one can not believe that Nick is leaving the show. I am shocked. He gives every woman the best cut for her features. He also has a great instinct for color to suit each person. I have been watching for years and there have only been a few instances where I thought he missed. Hey, nobody is perfect. I would love to have him cut my hair. I just wrote a letter to nominate myself the other day (haven't sent it in yet) and Nick was a big part of my decision. I am truly sorry to see him go. I hope that the new guy is as brilliant as Nick.

Im glad to see other people have the same opinion as me...Nick does cut off EVERYONES hair, even when a few of them would have looked better with longer hair and the short hair cuts really did always look the same. I know these people are on the show for a change, and maybe thats why he always did that, because it was the most drastic but they wanna look good too not just different. he was annoying

I have to agree with a lot of the people on here, both as a woman with long hair that I have worked for years to grow out (and I love it btw) and as a hairdresser. I do not doubt for a second that he’s a great person, and he definitely has an impressive resume and clientele. My criticism is solely based on what I have seen from watching the show. Sure, according to the cosmetology books and the personal opinions of most of the hairdressers I know, shorter is better and it's more difficult to really go by textbook guidelines of how hair should be cut for a face and leave the hair long. However, those are just GUIDELINES and making the person in your chair feel comfortable and feel better about how they look when they leave than when they came in is more important than the guidelines you learned about haircutting in school. I have watched this show for years and have been mortified at how many women I feel have left his chair unhappy. I’m sure for people who love short hair, and have never had the courage to go short, ending up in his chair would be a wonderful. He is also a brilliant colorist (I would let him color my hair as long as he put all sharp things in the room in a box and let me hold it until the end of the service) I think that people who have the obvious distaste for long hair should stick with their own tried and true clientele. I hope this new guy appreciates the opinion of the person in his chair and has better listening skills than Nick.

OK, first of all, I'm bald as a cueball. I have no hair. I have to envy yours. BUT, I have been watching WN2W since the beginning and I simply LOVE Nick. What a sweet little BOSOM he is. (I'm watching the new guy, Ted 'Shaft' SomeoneLightTheIncense&BringOutTheYogaMatSoICanDazzleDemWithMyMandingo). ::puking:: They dumped Nick for this?! This chick looks HORRID!!!!! I'm not one of the Glammers who know all there is to know about hairstyle and fashion, all I know is what I see. Nick was sweet, enormously talented, and OK, maybe he DID pimp for hugs a little too much. BUT, on the whole he was on the mark more than 75% of the time, and some of these women had nerve even going OUT with their do's, much less asking a stylist to fix the damage. An artist is only as good as the subject he is given or the clay he sculpts from. Thankfully, Nick doesn't need WN2W.

The show is empty without Nick!!! Nick, if you're reading these, I want you to know that whatever happened on what not to wear, you are still the best part of the show. WHAT WENT WRONG???

Anonymous said...

Nick was honestly my favorite part of the show. I love his accent, and he's charming and funny. As someone who had long (down past my butt) hair for many years, I can say that LONG HAIR IS NOT ALWAYS SEXY! My hair is now in a fun asymmetrical above the chin cut that makes me feel unbelieveably sexy. And as far as the people who complain that Nick always does the same cut, well...have they seen the outfits that Stacy and Clinton pick out? Hmm....straight jeans, this type of jacket, these accessories, pencil skirts, pointy-toe shoes etc. Everyone ends up with similar outfits...and make-up. Why should Nick get the crap for supposed similar haircuts? He chooses cuts to flatter the face, and he knows what he's doing. I had beautiful long hair, but it was the hair that was pretty, not the way it made me look.

Anonymous said...

Wow! I can't believe what I'm reading from these posts. Nick was the best thing on WNTW. I'm sorry to say after he leaves I probably will not watch the show any longer. To those who think he "always cut hair short" that is completely wrong. I always felt like Nick gave a haircut that really fits the person's face and those who had long hair looked awful with it, and to those who thought Nick enjoyed seeing long hair fall to the ground as he cut it are insane and probably have hideous, greasy hair that they should have cut. All these hateful comments people are making about Nick really need to stop he is just trying to make the people he is given look good.

What a bunch of idiots. Nick Arrojo is an awesome stylist, and your stupid opinions will do absolutely nothing to negate the evidence of his tangible, proven success. To his credit, Nick has created, owns and manages his own hair styling conglomerate, Arrojo Studio; has his own product line, loyal celebrity and supermodel clients, and scores and scores of WNTW fans.

As far as Nicks replacement, I suggest you look at Mr Gibsons WNTW debut for an actual example of his lack of style, taste and ability. Arial was clearly not happy with her hair make-over, and I dont blame her. It was horrible. The other experts didnt like it either, they simply tried to reassure her by playing up her eyes and the like. They never once complimented Teds work. Making her a redhead was a good idea, but the quality of the color was pitiful and the style looked amateurish. It looked like a cheap hair cut and a home done dye-job from a box.

I dont know what happened, or why Nick has left WNTW, but I am sure that he is moving on to bigger and better things. He has immeasurable talent and style, and he will be a roaring success at whatever his ventures.

Anonymous said...

I would have liked to go on the show JUST to have Nick Arrojo style my hair. I can't remember his giving anyone a bad style, and everyone looks better after he's done, whether they think so or not. My husband agrees.

And finally, it's HAIR, people! It grows. If you don't like what he did, wait two months and it will be gone.

I actually liked the hairstyles he used to do on women with curly or wavy hair (when he worked with the natural wave and left some length), but I usually didn't like the haircuts he did on women with straight hair. It did seem like he cut an awful lot of short hair or bobs. But I did see him leave some women with longer hair, and I also have his book -- and there he shows a number of longer styles for all different types of hair (although there was a big section in the beginning about women with really long hair that he cut off)... but from the book, it didn't seem like he was totally against a slightly longer hair style. I was always curious to see what he would do with the women's hair each week. As for the Texas woman, I felt bad that she was so upset, but I didn't think her haircut was so bad... and she was so acquiescent that he might not have realized how much she really wanted to keep the longer hair (although I didn't think it looked so great before -- it did look pretty damaged). She even said it was pretty after it was done but that she had to get used to it.

So anyway, I will miss Nick (did he get forced out, or did he leave on his own?)... but I am interested to see what Ted Gibson does. Just saw the first episode with him, and he seems to have a really engaging way. (I also liked that he said he wasn't going to cut off all of her hair.) We shall see how it goes!

NOT LIKEING THIS!!!!! REALLY HORRID.
TEDDY YOUR TOAST.

kitkat13 said...

In my opinion, it's pretty predictable, the women on the show are stuck in a rut and don't do enough for themselves, or are so insecure that they don't care anymore. So, any sort of big change is a shock.

I do think that Nick was right in cutting off all the damaged hair. However, he is a bit taunting. He wouldn't have gotten so many negative reactions if he didn't egg on the women who were emotionaly attached to their hair.

I agree, that long is not for everyone. But neither is short. For instance, I've had my hair longer than shoulder length, a bob, and a pageboy cut. I have a round face and long hair works best for me to make my face look balanced.

He isn't exactly a one-cut-wonder, but some hairstyles could have looked so much better if he branched out and hadn't been so drastic.

kitkat13 said...

Also, I think that Ted's way of being gentle from this one episode is better. Being drastic is a scary thing for some people. But we shall see. I think a change was needed.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe how many stupid women there are, just in this comment board, who think that hair length is somehow crucial to femininity. Also, how many stupid women have managed to convince themselves that men are attracted to long, lifeless hair.

Granted, most men want SOME length. But personally, I can't stand when women have hair past their collarbone. 9/10 women don't really know how to maintain really long hair, so the ends are always unhealthy, not soft, and definitely not pleasant to touch. Longer hair is less likely to have shape. Long (usually broken) ends weigh hair down, making it heavier and much less playable. It might look fine if you put in enough product to add shape and make the unhealthy ends look decent, but it sure as hell doesn't feel nice and most men care much more about the latter.

Granted, not all of Nicks cuts worked well, and he definitely should've tried harder to compromise. But I thought most of his cuts were pretty attractive. New guy seems cool though, and Nick, while much better than some of you self-deluded length-addicts can accept, wasn't right for this sort of show.

Anonymous said...

I think Nick tended to take a lot off on the show because the whole point for these women is CHANGE. I think it was a way of making the transformation really sink in, and more often than not I liked the cut. It's also reasonable to say that some hair behaves differently after you cut a lot off, and the result can be unpredictable no matter how great a stylist you are.

If anyone needs to leave it's Carmindy. Phony and repetitive. I still remember her making women (and men) cry with her comments.

Anonymous said...

I guess nobody watched the show last night. Because Ted did NOT give the woman what she wanted. He couldn't have cared less that she wanted to stay "blonde" and he turned her into a redhead. I will miss Nick and I think he did a fantastic job,

Anonymous said...

I watched WNTW last night, and had to wince . . . not only did Ted not give Ariel what she wanted; he made her, his very FIRST client, cry, and to top it off really annoyed me by claiming that all women should have color in their hair so it better match their skintone. So no woman is good enough as is? Would he tell a man the same thing?
I'm not sure this will be on my must-see list anymore, might just check out reruns with Nick for any I might have missed.

Anonymous said...

I'm disappointed to see Nick gone though I believe we did see some of the same hair styles over and over - and I don't mean short ones! Nick was frank and genuinely cared about the person and his work. Let's see how Ted does....

mygransnonie said...

I belive that Carmindy is a very sweet person and pretty too. She needs to get that stringy, thin, blond hair cut.

Anonymous said...

I have no real opinion on Nick. I think he just kind of got bored with the show; he seemed uninterested in it lately. I liked his styles for the most part. The new guy made Ariel cry but her red color was fantastic for her. I don't know why she thought she was a blonde to begin with; she wasn't. I thought the dyed eyebrows looked kind of weird but that's because the dye was on her skin still. Anyway, as long as Clinton and Stacy are on I'll watch. Hair and makeup can be anybody.

ChristinaM09 said...

Why all the anti Nick Arrojo comments and what is wrong with short hair?
I think he did a fabulous job on the women and he didn't always cut their long locks off, but many did need to have a lot cut off.
As a woman who has worn both long and short hair I must say after receiving a really good haircut to about chin length I decided I was never going back to long hair ever again.
I think most of you who are so AntiNick Arrojo are insecure and clinging to long hair not because it looks best on you, but because you fear change.
change is good and I do hope the new guy Ted does much better than what he did on his first makeover because I for one was not impressed at ll.

Anonymous said...

Nick's scissor happy ways were the worst part of the show. He never seemed to understand that women want to feel beautiful and glamorous after a makeover -- not matronly. Finally -- his rein of terror is over.

ChristinaM09 said...

Anonymous, having short hair does NOT make one matronly. let's dispell that stereotype that "short hair" means OLD right now.
women with dull boring long hair need some style and often are clueless when it comes to fashion.
I recall several women that looked older with their long manes and as a result of a sleek stylish bob appeared much younger afterwards.
I think Nick did a superb job on several women on the show and I'm sad to see him go! :-(

Maggiemaggiemaggiemaggiemaggiemae! said...

It's kind of sad in that I bet he didn't see it coming, he really is too pompous to have thought they could go on without him. Sorry if that's mean to some, but I think his personality? Well he's just different, only a lot like him, New Yorkers, they are different from other people and not in a bad way, just a driven sort of, well a whole different view on life so maybe thats hard for me to get used to. But I was never once impressed by his cuts, I always saw a look for the MO and would hope Nick would see it also, a look making a change, but a sexier one, not matronly.
Howvever, Nick and Carmindy had finally gotten the producers to give them a bit more air time, and on the "info" on the show will now show "Nick and Carmindy" Sarah, blah blah blah. Then even together prior to starting hair or makeup. I suppose they'll just still do that, only with Ted. I have a feeling Carmindy will seem like a different person as she'll want to impress Ted, and will therefore eventually force a friendship, but I think it will be for her? the best thing that could have happened, if Nick stayed on , it was only a matter of time till she got the boot also. She's really VERY funny, very! I know Ted will bring this out in her, and maybe finally? we'll get to see the REAL her. It'd be nice is all.
God bless to all of them though, their hearts are all in the right place. And they really have helped a LOT of people, changing their lives permanently forever, good for them!

Just got through watching What not to wear and this episode had a young budding journailist from minneapolis on and Nick did an awesome job on her hair.
she ended up with an edgy modern bob cut and looked really cool, but professional too.

ChristinaM09 said...

mygransnonie , I couldn't agree more. I like Carmindy too and she is very pretty, but I think she should try a much shorter style such as a bob or pixie cut. she could pull off any short to very short hairstyle.

here's a short style that I think would look fab on Carmindy
http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections2/laura.jpg

as far as a Bob this would look good on Carmindy
http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections/coiffure1.jpg

in additiion to Carmindy I would like to see Stacy get some of those locks chopped off and sport a more modern trendy style. I think Stacy is LONG overdue for a change.

Anonymous said...

I'm willing to give the new guy a chance. Sometimes you have to embrace the change. Nick did however, tend to cut the same old hairstyle. That gets boring. I think that some of the people on the show really lack self confidence. I've had very long hair and felt sexy. Now I have short pixie like hair and feel almost sexier. The cut shows my face more. People need to get over their hair issues. Hair is just an accessory, right?

Anonymous said...

When you look back on the show, I am certain that Carmindy especially but nick is included as well, which was they , her mostly (again) was so mean and her persnickity bitchy I'm better than you attitude was what we saw. THAT was her real personality, only the producers let her know that if she didn't tone it down, talk to them nicely, compliment them, and hug them at the end, her job would be over. Because the person you see now is 180 degrees different from who she really is, but most people don't know or remember back then, and how some of us know how fake she really is, and I sort of hoped that when Nick got fired as I was certain he would, I'd only be repeating everyone else's bitching, it's all been said perfectly.
I'm biased, I really dislike reality tv shows, they'll film a show about anything with anyone who they overnight make a star, , so many who will be.. "who?" soon, to me they already are "who:" as I don't really watch TV and I never watch 2-13 only sticking to a couple of channels that are informative not anger, hatred backstabbing people shows.
When will it all stop? All they do is create , well, nothing good. and what's up with the Tattoo shows and Flip, Sell or burn it down your house shows?
Would be nice to see shows that used to make you laugh. There were a lot, and I'm not some grandma, just a mother and i don't like whats on that thing, and we don't like her watching TV really at all. Maybe once or twice during the week she can watch Nick or Toon, for an hour, maybe even two, but otherwise - her movies in her room on her tv.
Lost train of thought, but stop the putting down of one another. If people want to vent their opinions of a show, a SHOW, it's not real life, if we want to make fun of or wish they were off the show comments, we are allowed to do so without others calling people "morons", wow, talk about take a good long look in the mirror, i think you need to leave the bitching of others alone, What the hell do you care? Are you their protector? They don't know any of us even exist and who cares, they're nobody, no mare than anyone else. Its just their job, and if we feel they suck at their job then the show should know and he should be replaced. Jeez, you make idols of simple people who have NY type jobs in fashion. They are on a show, and bing bam that's it. They are no special and really not celebrities, although I do get the feeling that the girl Carmondy carmindy?, whatever, has bigger and better fish to fry, she seems very Martha Stewarty to me, both are .... just say I don't like them, especially Martha! UGH! but the MA is very driven but very very insincere ,i sense no warmth from her, just a lot of self love that is out of control.

Anonymous said...

I was really disapointed in Ted. I don't know I was expecting, magic, charm, and someone who would listen to their MO. I mean Nick did wha he wanted as well, and 8 out of 10 times I think he struck serioulsy out, As Stacy on those Pantene commercials says, Hair is like the icing on the cake, its the most important thing for a look! Hello? Ted?
It's stuff like this that's going to get the show cancelled. They start messing with the mix and I don't like Carmndy at all, I think she is exrtemely overly made up She wears so much that without it, you would never know it was her, but it isn't that, I just think that she seems... Insincere as the post said before me. Not trying to slam the girl, just pointing out to me, the obvious.
But still, the show works, and people seem to love it, now theyve changed nick, what else should we be expecting? Don't fix, what isn't broke. They could have simply talked to Nick, not just let him go! He and Carm had chemistry, which I'm positive she'll have with ted, but either way I think they should have left it alone.

Anonymous 3 said...

Here's the deal with Nick. I've watched the show for a while now. I've been to his studio in NYC a couple times. He's trying to build an empire the likes of Vidal Sasoon. This requires building a brand. Branding requires consistency. My feeling is that he is trying to brand a certain haircut style, so it is immediately identifiable as a "Nick Arrojo" cut. If you like his style, you let him cut your hair.

For a show like "What Not To Wear" it's about giving the client what's best for her. It's not about getting a standard "Nick Arrojo" cut. The two parting ways was the correct move for both of them.

ChristinaM09 said...

If the ratings were falling they are probably going to plummet unless this guy Ted does some decent hair makeovers. otherwise this show may lose big time in the ratings which would be an indication that the series will get cancelled by next year, if not sooner.

I think Nick helped sell that show, not Stacey and Clinton Kelly alone. he had a real personality.

in regards to the tall boring long haired Nanny that was probably one of the worst episodes ever! she wouldn't even let Nick trim her hair and she had ZERO personality!

also, Ted should've cut a few inches off of Arials mane instead of coloring her hair and eyebrows. did he even cut at all?
she would've been much more content with a shorter different style with some touchups on her hair.

when you get a makeover, you should expect to have some locks chopped off. if not, don't bother going on the show. afterall it's only hair which is an accessory anyway.

Just watched a rerun with Nick. it was one with Tara and she informed Nick she had the same long hair her entire life and was freaking when he suggested cutting a little off.
I have had long hair as long as waist length and I've had it cut pixie short.
why can't some of these women realize that they need to change every once in awhile.
if you've worn it long for years why can't you try a short hairstyle for awhile?
it will be a nice change.
long hair is nice, but it gets boring really quick and unless you're very insecure which Tara obviously was then you shouldn't have a problem with trying short hair.
Nick should've cut it to the chin. it would've been a really nice change for Tara and the tears would be temporary and once Tara realized how hot she looked in a bob she'd change her whole attitude.

I have been going to Arrojo studios for years. Nick's influence and teaching are ingrained in every stylist. Arrojo does not simply cut what a customer "thinks" will be right, they explain and cut how hair "should" be cut.
I am ALWAYS happy with my look. Can't say that about the dozens of hair stylists who did my hair before I discovered Arrojo Stuodio!!!!

I happen to love Nick and I don't think his haircuts are ugly. Come on people....it is only hair, it will grow back!! I for one love short hair on a woman. It shows that a woman is confident enough not to hide behind a bunch of hair. Nothing worse than a middle-aged woman trying to look young with long hair. Don't be afraid to show your face! And for those of you who cry over your hair....get a life...IT'S ONLY HAIR!!!

livsca said...

Let me also clarify that I am not against long hair on a mature woman...BUT...some women should admit that they don't know how to take care of long hair. I personally never knew how to style my own long hair when I was younger, so now it is short and easy to take care of. I have also gotten many, many compliments on it. Long hair that just hangs with no shape or body is not an attractive look...it does absolutely nothing for your face. The women who came to Nick with long hair that he cut had ugly long hair because they knew absolutely nothing about taking care of it. I love Nick!

I'm kind of happy Nick left. He was cool and nice and all but 99.9% of the time, he just cut the women's hair short. And there is nothing wrong with short hair (I have short hair!!) but the fact of the manner is that IT WAS ALL HE DID. There was no variety whatsoever and he didn't take into consideration what would look best for that particular woman.
Now Ted on the other hand, I liked. Even though his first job, Ariel, was distraught about her hair color, he made her look SO MUCH BETTER. Remarkably better. Even she liked it at the end (the update). He actually took into consideration what would make her stand out more and it worked. I hope he stays for a long time. :)

Watched a older episode with Nick cutting a Texas woman's long straggily hair and giving her a chic looking Bob today

Joy looked 100% better after she had her hair cut short
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfHV77lXyJQ

If Ted doesn't give a shorter cut tomorrow I will probably never tune in again because what i saw in the promos was one of the worst manes possible. the lady NEEDS a lot of hair chopped off.

for the record Nick did do some long hair when the hair was healthy looking, but many had long straggily mops like Joys and needed to have it chopped off to look right.

not all women look great in long hair and there is a difference between having long glamorous hair like this:
http://hairstyles.hairboutique.com/gallery/(381).jpg
and looking like a throwback to woodstock on a BAD hair day.

as a woman who has had both long and short hair I can tell you that if I had long straggily hair and the stylist recommended cutting a lot off in order to give me the best cut possible I would certainly tell him to go ahead.

I liked Nick, although I didn't always like his hairstyles. I am sorry to see him go. But for those who are saying that they are messing with "the original four", by replacing Nick... keep in mind that this is NOT the first time someone from What Not To Wear has been replaced. Remember that Clinton Kelly was not part of the show the first season -- he was a replacement for Wayne Scot Lukas...

Carmindy =cool, Stacy= annoying! Clinton=O.K. Ted=no opinion at this time.

who would you like to see replace Stacy and what is with her hair? she never changes it
I think she should submit to a mandatory Bob cut and have it done on the show! afterall whenever a woman goes from long to short which is good imho she always raves about the hair so why doesn't she wear a bob herself?

Are u kidding me? Everyone is talking about that lady from Texas who he made cry. But did you see her hair?!?! She needed it cut short. Her hair was so big I'm sure she has permanent neck and back problems.

Just watche the latest episode of WNTW with some radio personality from Denver named Baily and the show SUCKED the big one!
again, another atypical Ted's 'celebrity' long do.
you think he would've given her a real edgy cut since she worked for a music station instead of the lame ass style that she got.
I don't know about the rest of you all , but I'm done with this show!
it has gone from being a half way decent show to total SUCKitude!

Anonymous said...

I have to disagree with so many of the comments made about Nick. He is the reason I actually watched WNTW. He makes everyone look their best. I was so impressed with him that I had him cut my hair this past year and let him do what he thought would be best. I had extremely long hair and he cut off a bit, but certainly not short. It was truly the best cut I have ever had and his salon is one of the most professional I have ever been to. It was an experience I am looking forward to repeating. I did catch the first night with Ted Gibson and my first impression is that all his comments or conversation with the client was fake/ set up for the cameras. It didn't feel sincere and I don't feel as though I need to see it anymore.

RoxyRoller said...

I don't think he was bad, per se (though a few haircuts and styles were very questionable and did not enhance the person's look), but I do question the old and new hair doers as to why most with wavy or curly hair have their hair cut and then straightened?! Being a curly-haired girl, it's not easy maintenance to straighten...takes me at least an hour, at least - but I do do it on occasion. Ted has done it the past couple of weeks too. The gals can look great but going home and doing that every day is not realistic. It's not a five-minute Carmindy makeup deal. I like both Nick and Ted but please, can you give the curly/wavy haired girls something they can do every day with their curls and waves and make it work?!

www-tryveg-com said...

WNTW is intended to pull people who look so bad (that their family and friends nominated them for a TV show) out of their awful-looking comfort zones. Many of these people go through a major psychological/esteem change on the show. And many seem to have irrational attachments to their current wardrobe and "style". They require TOUGH love and having to make TOUGH choices. Stacy, Clinton, Nick and Carmindy have been very successful at doing that. I can't recall many women (why did they stop doing men??) who didn't have a metamorphosis and new confidence after having been on the show.

This isn't Extreme Makeover. It's trying to find clothes, hair and makeup that work for these people's life - simple fixes without drastic changes that have major results. And a look they can maintain without a stylist living their home.

Unfortunately some women can't be helped much no matter what you do. Did Nick have a few failures? Sure. But usually it was because there were few options. Of course he had to cut off damaged and jaggedy hair - that logically will mean losing length. Carmindy is on a TV show, in front of a camera, which means she has to wear more makeup under bright lights. She gives makeup tips for everyday looks, not photoshoots or Red Carpet events.

My husband is distraught Nick is gone. Whenever the show came on he'd yell "NICK!" - it was the reason I think he started watching with me. Loves him some Nick!

Someone suggested getting rid of Stacy? HUH? She IS this show. She and Clinton make a great team - entertaining and educational.

I don't know why Nick left the show, but I know we will miss him at our house.

ChristinaM09 said...

"Someone suggested getting rid of Stacy? HUH? She IS this show."
that would be me ;-)
I would rather that they had replaced her instead of Nick.
as far as I am concerned Nick Arrojo WAS a big part of that show's success, not just Stacy and Clinton.
sorry, nothing against the new guy Ted, but his work didn't impress me at all. it looked like the atypical generic 'celebrity' look which I don't like at all.
NIck gave the ladies haircuts that required minimal work.
I think the show will probably plummet in the ratings and could possibly face cancellation by January 2010.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Nick gave everyone the same haircut! We call him king of the bob around here. I like the way Carmindy does make-up.

RealityChick said...

Well, as far as the big picture goes, does it REALLY matter? It's a television show, people! The economy is struggling, individuals are taking pay cuts or losing their jobs right and left, and the housing market is tanking. If we all put as much thought and effort into issues that affect each of us instead of critiquing entertainment shows, maybe this world would be a better place! Think about it.

So much for watching What Not To Wear... This has been one of my favorite shows but after seeing Ted Gibson in the last 2 episodes with his ho-hum "hair don'ts" and lack of personality I think I'll be watching less. The first episode he forced a color on someone who didn't want to go red and it looked like an amature job when he finished--and she obviously wasn't happy with it. Just because someone is afraid to get rid of some length doesn't mean they look good with long hair. Most women past a certain age don't look good with long hair. The second episode where Mr. Gibson left the hair long and just put a loose curl in the style didn't look attractive at all. In fact, it didn't look like it had been done at all. As for his personality--or lack of it. He acts like he's afraid to suggest something different.

I actually watched an old rerun with Nick the other night and i watched him actually get MAD and snap at a woman who said she didn't want her long hair cut. ..like he just got NASTY about it......he IS a sadist..and the way he cuts off the woman's ponytail and wags it in front of their faces taunting them. yuck i'm glad to see him go..the new guy might not be superb but he's better that nick..i couldn't believe how aggressive he got with that woman.

Anonymous said...

Nick was awesome! I used to enjoy seeing him take those plain Janes long straggily Mops that resembled old frizzy manes and chop it off then put some color and conditioner in and back to the sink and do the actual cut and then afterwards he gave them a much shorter and sleeker style that required low maintance.

this Ted guy didn't do anything but put a curl in that lady's hair last night and it will look the way it did before she sat in the chair within a week.

not with Nick's cuts. they last a hell of a lot longer. I will not watch another episode of that show from this point on UNLESS it's a rerun with NICk.

Short Hair is much better ladies and short hair will give you a hell of a lot more sex appeal than unkempt long hair will.

definitely go SHORT and get a bob and think of Nick as you're in the chair getting a foot or more taken off.! you'll look a LOT better as a result and your antishort hair attitude will dissipate!

NIck, you were great Man. wish you would come back! ;-(

besides Short Hair has been making a comeback over the past few years. Long hair doesn't look great on everyone and as a matter of fact, with few exceptions it doesn't look that great on anyone.

TLC PLEASE bring Nick Arrojo back. the new guy isn't gonna cut it. he doesn't even cut hardly any hair off and he lacks the Charisma that Nick had and I miss the episodes of him giving these ladies who went from mundane to looking like glamorous models after receiving a good BOB haircut.

Let's get it straight:

1. Nick does NOT have a huge ego; this man works in his salon side by side with his employees and students - NO "DIVA" complex - and he is gracious and accomodating to all those tourists who come to his salon seeking a photo op.
2. Long hair does not mean good looking/beautiful hair.
3. Nick does not cut everyone short or in the same style and I don't recall ever seeing a mullet on WNTW!
4. Most of those with long hair have not maintained it in good health and cutting "a lot" of it off is the only way to bring their hair back to life. (If your fingernails were nasty, cracked and split would you continue to crazy glue them back together so they remain long, but ugly, or would you cut them off and let them regrow?)
5. Hair grows back, live a little - it's not like they're losing limbs, nor their identity - unless their identity is "Cousin It" from the Addams Family.
6. The only "helmet" I recall seeing on WNTW belonged to the lady that used so much hair spray, her husband's fingers would get caught in her head.

Most of you who "hate" Nick have never even met him in person. You are judging him based on a 3 minute segment of a 1 hour show - a segment that is shot and reshot and edited to create the final product. You see what the producers want you to see, nothing more. Do we know for a fact he was "let go"? Perhaps Nick left the show to pursue other interests; Perhaps Nick left the show because he was not given enough creative license with the styles he produced on the show; Perhaps if you had the opportunity to see him working, styling hair in his salon you would have a different opinion of him.

What a horrible world we live in where people base judgements on heresay in the media and not on facts and first hand experience. May none of you ever have to endure the same.

I loved Nic. I thought , with very few exceptions, all the haircuts he gave made each person look so much better. Whenever the person on the show would not let him have the freedom to do what he thought was best, that person did not seem to be completely made over. I also liked Nic Arrojo's personality. He was straight forward and sure of his skills. This is what I would want. I watched the program to see his haircuts. I hate that he is gone.

ChristinaM09 said...

Imho, I think NIck probably had restrictions placeed upon him when he signed a contract with the producers of the show and/or TLC.
I am sure he would've loved to have been more creative with color as exhibited in this clip that I ran across:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLJwG3JYghI

also, I think Nick probably has done a lot more edgier styles in his own salon ,but wasn't probably allowed to be creative with the clients on WNTW because the show has a very conservative bent stylisticallly. afterall they're trying to appeal to middle-America, not the trendy types which is unfortunate because I would like to see some plain Janes given some very cool styles with colorful highlights. ;-)

incidentally the host who interviews him in the clip above is obviously clueless when it comes to style thinking that the model's hair is a "Wild look". she obviously hasn't seen much, but then this is "good morning America" which targets some of the most conservative demographic groups in the U.S. what can you expect?

Any damn fool can grow hair. What makes it special is a good cut. Nick was a genius. I am sad to see him go. The only people who look good with long hair hanging down the sides of their faces are young kids. Most women over thirty need something with style. Those whiners that did not want their hair styled to suit them should have turned down the money and stayed home.

I have to disagree with some people on here. I think Nick did listen to what the person said, but then he would tell them why he thought what he wanted to do would be better for them. It was a conversation (and we don't know if we see the whole conversation anyway, what with editing...). I don't think I saw an episode where the person told him they absolutely did not want him to do something but then he did it anyway -- he always got their okay first (even if it was an apprehensive okay). There were some people who flat out said no to things, and so he didn't do it. I remember that singer who didn't want her hair to be colored, and he did leave it her natural color... and also that nanny with the really long hair who would not let him even trim it. Other times he did compromise a bit and left a bit more length even though he had initially said he wanted to cut it shorter.

I didn't always like his cuts... I did get tired of the bobs... but usually the person did like it even when I did not (different strokes, I guess). And I did see him do some slightly edgier things sometimes -- nothing way over the top because it had to work with the person's lifestyle, but I do remember one girl he gave some blue hair to...

I think if I had the opportunity, that I would want to see what he would suggest for my hair... and if it worked with my lifestyle (like if it was quick and easy to care for), then I'd probably say sure, go ahead. If I hated the result, well, it's hair and it would grow back eventually!

I will miss seeing Nick on WNTW, but I say, let's give the new guy a chance... it's only been 2 shows so far, right?

I recently had my hair cut by Nick. I've read all the pros and cons preceding my post. My hair was not long to start with. I told him before he began that what I did NOT like was hair that was real short at my ears and longer in the back. What did I get? Exactly what I said I did not want. There was no more discussion about what I'd ask for. I have never been terribly assertive and didn't have the nerve to say anything at the time. Besides, once you realize he just chopped what you didn't want him to chop, it's a tad late to complain. It was difficult not to cry. Since the cut was a gift, I feel I have to wait a respectable amount of time before at least getting the back trimmed so everything feels more balanced. They blow dry your hair in that place but that's it. No curling irons and I am a person who needs a little BODY. Round brush and blow dryer. That's pretty much it. I was very disappointed in the end result. The cut was good and probably would have gotten an A+ if being done on a dummy, but I think you have to get just a hint of someone's personality (and at his prices, take 3-4 minutes to do so) and take their wishes in to consideration. I did not receive that courtesy. In retrospect, he seemed a bit reticent, maybe a little 'down'. Since this was only 3 weeks ago, I suspect he was well aware he was being replaced on WNTW.

G-Anon said...

I loved Nick--he worked with each person's hair-type, hair-color, facial features, life-style, & personality. He is the only stylist I've ever known whom I would allow to do whatever he thought best for my hair, because he would make me the best version of me possible that would work with my life-style.

I was alarmed at Ted's first styling on WNTW--although he made her look quite beautiful, he did not work with the hair she had: he completely changed the color & didn't work well with her hair-type. If asked, I wouldn't go on WNTW now because I would fear Ted would give me hair that I couldn't reasonably keep up in my life.

I thought Nick did a great job on everyones hair! I'm sure Ted is great too, but Nick definitaly new what he was doing. He made women look fabulous and what really matters is that he made the women getting their hair done happy, not everyone else in the country watching.

I agree with G-Anon. the hairstyles have to be reasonable for women to do day to day. while it's great that Ted does Ann Hathaways hair, not everyone has an on call hairstylist

Anonymous said...

I dont know what episodes you guys are watching, but rarely do any of the contestants run out crying that he did a horrible job. I only see people crying because they look so good. And guess what? So far Ted seems to be leaning toward a certain hairstyle also. Also, it's hard to have a day-to-day life running around when you are dragging 10 feet of hair behind you. I think Nick did a great job, and just because he cuts hair short doesn't mean he's a bad stylist. That's just crazy. And personally, all those people look BETTER with short, beautiful hair, then long, destroyed hair.

I love Nick! Love his accent, ponytail, style and daring haircuts. The new guy, not so much. Nick was edgy and I agree with the rest, a makeover usually means that something is going to happen to the hair! They can't do plastic surgery in an hour long show. Love Stacy and Clinton, too. And Carmendy's makeup tips are really easy to follow. Great team, too bad is being messed with.

I thought Nick did a great job and I am sorry to see him go. I thought in nearly all of his makeovers that the women looked better.

I usually liked Nick's cuts...not always, but most of the time. What's hilarious is that all of these people on here were complaining that Nick cut too short and since Ted started on the show, every single cut he's given has been short. And I agree that he has a weird fake intimacy thing going. He's semi-creepy. Bring Nick back.

I really miss Nick! Maybe Ted can do some hair (?)....but his personality is lacking!!!!! The hairstyle part of the show used to be my favorite part....not so much anymore...

ChristinaM09, what is wrong with you? Are you a complete loser? You need to get a life and stop posting here so much. Your repeated affirmations of how much you love your bob remind me of "The Lady doth protest too much." Grow your ugly bob out and stop trying to convince all of us (and yourself) that it is sexy.

I certainly hope they read this...the I'M FOR NICK TEAM out numbers the nay sayers.
The them's and the they's at WNTW should take heed at their blunder.

I think I can understand why some of you are put off by short hair

let's take a look at two different Bob styles

this is what I consider a cool stylish Bob
http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections/hob-hairstyles-7.htm

now contrast this with what I would refer to as a "Soccer Mom" aka "corporate conservative" type bob
http://www.hairfinder.com/haircollections4/blacklabel3.htm

you see the difference? now if some 20 year old woman goes to the salon and requests a "Bob" thinking she's gonna end up with some trendy sleek bob and instead gets a more dated conservative type then I could understand any apprehension for wanting to try another one again.

the key is COMMUNICATION. take several photos with you when you go to the stylist.

short hair does not have to look unhip. some styles are intended for the conservative corporate crowd while some styles are for a more youthful 'hip' crowd.

I think Nick tried to straddle the fine line between trendy and corporate conservative. as much as I thought he did great cuts I think had he been given real freedom on the show I think he would've done more edgier cuts.

While Nick did do a number of short cuts, he had to give these ladies something they could style themselves at home! A lot of women with long hair look terrible because they don't want or have the time to make it look good. It's having long hair for long hair's sake, which is not right. My sister is one of these women and it makes me crazy that she looks like crap all the time.

Several people who have posted here made reference to the lady from Texas. I felt really sorry for her after her haircut, but not because it was shorter. I felt sorry for her because she was so lacking in self-confidence that she was devastated by a haircut. A haircut that was much more flattering, by the way. If you recall, her own stylist kept trying to get her to go shorter because she knew it would look better.

Nick was awesome! I would love to have him cut my hair.

I have no problems with them making a change and bringing in Ted Gibson. But I'm a hairstylist too and I have to say...Nick Arrojo is a fantastic stylist. He is one of the forerunners of razor cutting, his technique is amazing, and he is also a great guy. I had the opportunity to meet him this spring at the IBS show in NYC and he could not have been a nicer guy! It's true that stylist tend to have a certain technique and look that they do so maybe that's why a lot of people think it was repetetive. But like someone else pointed out...the show is about making a change. So if they came with long hair and left with long hair it kinda defeats the purpose, right? Plus those people are on the show bc they don't know what looks good on them and what flatters them. Wouldn't the professionals know better?

I hardly ever comment on postings, I had to do this... I truly do not like Nick's replacement. Nick was an excellent hairstylist. Actually, one of the best I ever seen. Yes, he does cut many a hair off, why? Because either one, the client's hair is damaged, two it does not suit the client, and three, he knows what the f*ck he is doing! No matter what Stacy and Clinton put the client in, you can be sure they do not look 'finished' until their hair and make-up is done. And people, it is a haircut, not a sex change, if the client doesn't like it, hair grows back. Nick truly worked magic on What Not to Wear, he will be surely missed. OK, final comment, that has nothing to do with Nick, but has anyone ever noticed that the friends and family of the nominatee tend to need just as much work themselves. LMAO!

He probably had to constantly chop everyone's hair off because their hair was a dead mess that they'd effed up through years of bad dye jobs, chemical treatments, and all around bad treatment.

Nick was fine.

I watched another rerun tonight with Nick and the lady on was Molly, a Fashion school graduate who wants a career in fashion and she had long hair which wasn't very flattering and was at least open-minded enough to trust Nick and the result was stunning and yes her hair was cut short.

she went from drab to FAB!
I mean someone who plans on going into the fashion industry NEEDS to be fashionable and yes, SHORT hair is definitely very fashionable right now.

I love the new stylist Ted Gibson better than Nick! Ted is more stylish and creative with the hairstyles and cuts. Nick is far too boring compared to Ted. Nick would create the same styles over and over. Usually styles similar to his own haircut! He was never great with black womens' hair AT ALL! Ted Gibson has far more talent in this area! Nick was great but Ted is better!

To all the women on this board who state that Nick chopped off hair and made it look horrible I say BAH!
to the contrary, he transformed average looking plain Janes into gorgeous looking sexy women.
also, many of you who hate on Nick are too attached to Long hair and are probably overdue for a serious haircut! most women look horrendous with long hair anyway.

why not embrace the short haired trend and go short?
many of you would probably look 100X better with a short makeover.

incidentally, the trend for the 2009/2010 year is shorter hair like chin length bobs and pixie cuts.

I adore Nick Arrojo and think he is fantastic. There was only one haircut I didn't particularly care for on the show. All I have to say is... It's hair, people! It grows! Nick has naturally curly hair and I do, too, and I would trust Nick with my hair in a heartbeat! Nick also has great products for naturally curly hair. I will give Ted a chance but I am infinitely sad.

I think Nick should be let go. He just plain sucks. He ALWAYS does the same cut......short and ugly. And I actually think he may be a bit prejudice. He seems to ALWAYS do 'black' peoples hair super short. He has NO talent. As for Carmindy, she's OK, she is all about herself but when she does makeup she vents what she wants to look like onto the person so they can look like a rockstar. And as for Stacy, she seems real enough and nice enough. Clinton IS real. And so is Ted. Ted does an AMAZING job and I couldn't be happier! Nick sux, couldn't be HAPPIER he's gone!! The 1st eppie with Ted, I did a dance, they client didn't exactly like it but other than that it looked amazing and Clinton and Stacy and Carmindy ALL commented on it MORE than aNY of them did on plain old gross Nicky-Nick..EWWWWW! How did he even land the job position???
As for the clothing, they aren't all the same. Similar, yes! But any GOOD or HALF-WAY DECENT stylist would tell you the same. My sister is 17 and never laid eyes on the show and when I asked her her main style tip she replied"Straight Leg trouser/jean, Empire waist to add emphasis to the bustline and structered jackets,oh and don't forget a nice heel *laughs*" But the clients own personal style also gets projected through the clothes so NO TWO PEOPLE have the same exact clothing. Similar but not even that...

What are you talking about?
I just saw an episode just the other day with this petite Italian looking woman from Boston who had this fro which looked horrible!
Nick took that hair and clipped it short and made her look sexy with a nice crop and she loved it!
Nick new what he was doing. he new how to tame a mop and when a woman had long hair that looked decent like the blonde from New orleans he kept it long.
he transformed woman that weren't that attractive into very sexy ladies!
NICK YOU ROCKED!! MISS YOU! ;-(

Wow. I don't think I've read more vicious comments anywhere in my entire life. I understand people are welcome to 'vent', but seriously, half of the comments I've read knocking Nick's styling talents are ridiculous. Most of the women's hair was damaged (hence Nick mentioning repeatedly 'you've got a lot of damage that needs to go') and there's just no way to fix hair that is THAT damaged outside of cutting it off. Also, if a person's style was bad enough to make it on a show like WNTW, do you honestly think that any of those women had a clue as to what would look good on them?? Nick is a stylist, and a damn good one, otherwise his business and school wouldn't be successful. There is a different dynamic between working with a client in a salon and the people who came on the show FOR A MAKE-OVER. He did listen to people's concerns, but his job was to make them look better, not tell them that they looked beautiful with their fried, frayed and over-processed long hair. As a stylist, he did the best that could be done with what he had to work with, but a pair of scissors, some hair color and a blow-dryer do not constitute a magic wand!

I personally haven't watched the show since Nick left, and Ted might be wonderful, but Nick was my favorite part of the show. As a stylist myself, I would jump at the opportunity to work with him and learn his techniques.

"WHO EVER WAS THE IDIOT WHO POSTED THIS PLEASE LEARN HOW TO SPELL AND WRITE ENGLISH. NOT EVERYONE LOOKS GOOD WITH LONG HAIR, NICK WAS ALWAYS NICE AND TRIED HIS BEST TO MAKE SOME VERY UNATTRACTIVE WOMEN LOOK DECENT. I AM VERY SAD TO SEE HIM GO. AS TO CARMINDY, SHE IS GREAT!"

Wow, clearly you are a complete as#&*(I! Not everyone comes on here to write perfect english and grammer. SOME people think very very very fast, type fast and aren't terribly concerned with syntax. What are you a teacher? If so, perhaps you should find another job. I work in Hollywood, and for your limited brain this might be difficult, so I'll use little words to make certain you understand. Almost every Producer I know can't spell his way out of a paper bag. Many are dyslexic, have ADD or whatever. We use what are known as EDITORS, to fix our work. "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams."No, no, don't speak--for some moments in life there are no words.
For you to come on here just to put someone down, someone that may be recently illiterate, nervous, shy, whatever, makes you a person that will receive very little love in this life. You should also be careful, I may be in jail, soon to be released, and with a simple little i.p. address, I can find you, and perhaps you can teach me in all your wisdom how to be as perfect as you.
Some people, when they write, are simply writing their thoughts, there are no rules for that. Why waste my time writing back to you, when so clearly you aren't worth the air you breath? First, you have no idea what you are talking about, you are a mean person, what? Do you slap you kid when he spills the milk? And second, what the hell kind of person, with all the conversations going on here, would bother to do what you did? Requoting me? Go for it. And knock yourself out putting other people down. Your spiritual enlightenment is clearly limited, and your heart is clearly cold. I feel bad for you, and even worse should you really piss me off. YOU NEVER KNOW who you are dealing with.
In Hollywood. We can get away with anything. Perhaps I'll blow your mind with written quotes and such by the same people who write the dialogue, who create the shows that so clearly permeate your brain. You would clearly lose your mind just trying to decipher it all. So sleep well my evil, cruel and useless one. You go on writing perfectly, just like the teachers taught you, it's not going to get you anywhere anyway. Me? I'll keep making movies, writing scripts and living a lifestyle that you can only dream about.

People don't speak in grammatically perfect ways, and when doing so on paper, the Inperfections only serve to get the point across in their own personal way. How wonderful to have people such as yourself out there. Putting down others. How sad for you. This site is to discuss the set of WNTW, not the writers, bloggers, and illiterates that come here.

By the way. Back off. Also, your wording about the MO's is also oh so kind. You must really be perfect, in looks and English. You ought to be more careful next time. This kind of thing could really come to bite you in the ass. You NEVER, EVER, know who you are talking to. Well I do. An ass.

Wow - Nick is a much better hairstylist than Ted Gibson. Ted is horribly overpriced and creates impractical hairstyles for everyday women. Nick's hairstyles were reproducible at home and looked amazing. And of course he always used the razor.. that's what he is KNOWN for, retard!

Anonymous said...

Wow. I can see a lot of women posting here who are way over-attached to their long hair. Very few people look good with long hair all the same length. Plus even if they do, there is no style to that kind of cut - it's totally boring. Nick does not chop every woman's hair super short, or use the same style for everyone. If someone expresses an interest in keeping longer hair, he does the best he can to accommodate them AND give them a great style. The problem is, sometimes a lot of hair has to come off because of damage. And many women seem to need a security blanket and keep hair at a length that honestly is a bit over-the-top and that which only a teenager can pull off. The focus is meant to be a person's face, NOT their ultra-long hair. Before you start slamming Nick maybe you should take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself - why do I need my hair to be super long? Long hair does not equate to youth and beauty. I used to have very long hair, and it just didn't suit - I have been a happier and more stylish person since I cut it short. Not saying everyone needs to go super short, but limiting length to a few inches below your shoulders and adding some layers wouldn't kill you.

I thought Nick and Carmindy's contribution to the show was one of its highlights. I always enjoyed watching the transformation from plain to beautiful. I'm really sorry to see Nick go. I always thought his cuts were fantastic.

Anonymous said...

The best part of the transformation was always Nicks haircut. Are you people blind? Except for a few lame exceptions the majority of women didn't even feel transformed until they had their hair done! I love they rest of them too but Stacy and Clinton have chosen some very bad outfits a few times. Look at the pic of Anne Hathaway above. What's so special about long hair parted on the side. It involves a trim and a curling iron. Big deal I could have cut that!

Betty Davis said...

I was surprised and disappointed that Nick left the show but I have seen Ted's work too and he is a good hairstylsit. Nick is a good hairstylise, especially with curls. I got some great curly hair tips by listening to him on the show ... and he did not cut off everyones hair. I do wish the show would incorporate more instruction for the public in their dialogue. We the watching public would like to learn the make up and hair secrets that they habitually keep secret. I love everyone on the show. Clinton's witty and silly character are a great contrast to Stacey's stern sometimes rude sounding comments but it is all part of the show. We as viewers should realize that there are other individuals involved in the show's development. Clinton and Stacey are actors putting on a show while teaching us how to develop our own style. I do wish the producers and directors would direct Carmindy into giving better application directions for women's make up. It would be helpful if they would have her discuss problem makeup issues like allergies to Mineral Oil that's in most makeup, the application of water based, oil based and mineral makeups and how they make the skin appear after application on older aging skin vs youthful skin, eye shadow and mascara issues and so on. They could actually do a few fulls show with Carmindy providing makeup application instruction and some with the new hairstylist Ted providing hairstyling tips.

I myself would love to have been on the show and gotten Stacey's criticism on my pear shaped fashion faux pas hip swelling style and Nicks hairstyle expertise on my head of long blonde/gray obnoxious curls that I wish I could have gotten him to tame. I have used Nick's product line to help get a hold on my wayward curls but I have yet to find a good hairstylist in South Carolina who can cut my curls the way they need to be cut to fall properly. I have seen Nick accomplish this in several WNTW episodes. I miss the show and can't wait for its return in January. I still look forward to Ted offering his own expertise to the show and for that matter to all of us the viewing public. Good luck Nick wherever you are. I personally will miss you. I love the show and its original cast members (except for the very first gentleman that was paired with Stacey).
