As winter fast approaches, the style-savvy among us can't help but think about what pieces will take us into the new season. There are some style perennials that make a welcome return season after season, and, of COURSE, always some new surprises. One trend that doesn’t seem to quit is UGG Boots – these have remained popular season after season, and year after year. What I love MOSTabout Uggs is that they're super easy to style up when temps drop; try them paired with a simple tunic and jeggings or thrown over your skinniest jeans and a big, cozy cashmere sweater for a quick but stylish outfit. They also come in a wide range of colours and styles, so there really is a pair for everyone. These are perfect for those days where you just want to be comfortable and toasty, toasty WARM.
Speaking of WARM, if you are looking for a cozy cover up this winter, try making a STATEMENT with your outerwear. This season, the poncho-style coat has been everywhere, and it looks AMAZE teamed with a skinny pair of dressed up trousers. These ponchos come with a variety of prints but if you want to keep up with the most current trends, try an Aztec print.
The gothic trend is also going to be major this winter. Ignore those pesky flashbacks to your disgruntled high school years - there are plenty of ways to embrace the trend without wearing head to toe black. One of the most sophisticated ways to go goth is to pair a sheer blouse with leather trousers for a more adult take on the trend. Or simply opt for gothic-inpsired accessories such as cross earrings or a studded bracelet. The perfect footwear to team with this look are Doc Martens, for sturdy but fashionable footwear to see you through winter. These will even carry you through Spring '12, as we've recently seen them all over the runways for the season - for a girlier twist, wrap garland flowers round your Docs.
If you're looking for a great party dress for the upcoming holiday season there will be a few styles that you should be making a beeline for. Spots are going to be huge this Autumn/Winter but don’t think this won’t be a flattering style for you. The prints we have seen have been extremely ladylike, and remember, contrasting spots look great together. A ladylike skirt paired with a sheer skirt is the look for that special party.
If spots aren’t your thing and you don’t like the ladylike look, you could always opt for the ever-elegant tuxedo. This look can be ultra-glamorous with the right accessories. Try traditional black and white, prints or even sequins!
