Get the Look: Rose Byrne at the 2009 Emmy Awards

At last night’s 2009 Emmy Awards, the stars were out in full force flaunting their eye-catching styles on the red carpet. Today, Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, was kind enough to shares his tips and tricks to achieve actress Rose Byrne’s look.

Last week, Harry gave Rose this ultra-chic collar bone-length cut to accentuate her bone structure and play up her youth. “Since her dress was so elegant, I wanted to create a simple and chic look for Rose,” said Harry. “I knew that leaving her hair down to showcase her new cut would do just that.”

Since it was such a hot day in Los Angeles yesterday, Harry began by applying John Frieda Frizz-Ease Original Formula Hair Serum to Rose’s soaking wet hair to ensure her style remained frizz-free and polished throughout the night. “By infusing soaking wet hair with a dime-size portion of Frizz-Ease Serum, you can block frizz that is caused by humidity and fend off flyaways before they start, paving the way for smooth, flawless style,” said Harry.

Harry then applied Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation to Rose’s towel dried hair before blowing it out straight in sections using a FHI Heat Nano Weight Pro 1900 Turbo blow dryer and a round boar bristle brush. Starting with hair at the back of her head and working towards the crown, Harry emphasized a deep side part by pulling hair to the left as he dried.

Harry finished by spritzing Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist evenly throughout Rose’s hair to amplify shine and flaunt her new color.

I must say, this look is sleek and quite lovely but a bit too simple for the red carpet, in my opinion.  But what do I know? Tell me in the comments what you think of Rose Byrne's' do?

Get the Look: Mary Louise Parker at the 2009 Emmy Awards

Maybelline isn't just hitting the runways at Bryant Park this year, they're also tackling the red carpet. Makeup Artist Tina Turnbow for Maybelline New York created the face for nominee Mary Louise Parker tonight at the 2009 Emmy Awards.

Tina was inspired by the deep purple and indigo tones in Mary-Louise’s Zac Posen dress, and her gorgeous gunmetal grey accessories. To play up the colors, Tina chose a dramatic yet classic smokey eye, blushing pink cheeks and nude lips.

Face: Because Mary-Louise has beautiful porcelain skin, Tina kept her face looking pristine by applying Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse in Classic Ivory – with touches of Maybelline New York Dream Mousse Concealer in Light under the eyes and to the tops of the cheeks to give a contoured look.

Cheeks: To complement her ivory skin, Tina brushed on Maybelline New York Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush in Gentle Pink to the apples of the cheeks to give the look of a soft natural flush.

Eyes: Tina used all four shades in the Maybelline New York Expert Wear Stylish Smokes Palette in Amethyst Smokes to play up her eyes and add drama; the deep purples complemented her creamy skin and dark hair.

She then followed with Maybelline New York Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner in Black on the upper and lower lash lines. To showcase the gorgeous jewel tones of the shadows, Tina only applied one coat of Maybelline New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara in Very Black.

Lips: For a barely-there, neutral lip, Tina lined the entire mouth with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Liner in Toast. She then followed up with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick in Nearly There.

Body: To complete the look, a soft dusting of Maybelline New York Mineral Power Illuminator in Nude was brushed along her collar bones, arms and legs for the perfect red carpet glow.

Are you digging the smokey eye and nude lip seen on Mary Louise Parker tonight?

Get the Look: Christina Applegate at the 2009 Emmy Awards

Makeup Artist Joanna Schlip for Clarins was inspired by Christina Applegate’s dramatic, sweeping Basil Soda gown when creating her makeup look this evening.

The vintage glamour of the navy stunner called for simple makeup that still made a statement. With her hair pulled back in a chic chignon, Joanna was able to play up Christina’s eyes with a sexy retro smolder, while keeping her skin fresh and lips softly pink. Like the dress, Christina’s makeup exuded a Brigitte Bardot 60’s cool, with a modern twist.

To create a radiant glow, Joanna prepped Christina’s skin with three steps: First she cleansed with Clarins Water Comfort One Step Cleanser. She then applied Clarins Multi-Active Day moisturizer, followed with Clarins Beauty Flash Balm for smooth, hydrated, radiant skin.

Joanna kept Christina's face mostly bare with a light wash of Clarins True Radiance Foundation. She fished with a dusting of translucent loose powder.

For a natural but luminous flush, Joanna applied Clarins Instant Sun Light Shimmer Palette on the apples of her cheeks, sweeping up to the hairline/ For the eyes, Joanna went smoldering with a dark gray shade from Clarins Colour Quartet for Eyes in So Chic, Clarins Eye Pencil in Black around the upper and lower lash line and inside the wet line, then finished with three coats of Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara in Black.

The finishing touch was a soft, modern pink lip thanks to Clarins Lip Definer in Bay Rose and Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm in Rose Pink.

Emmy's 2009: Best Dressed

The highlight of any award show is undoubtedly the red carpet arrivals and the Emmy's are no different.  Here are a few of my favorites this year...

Padma Lakshmi has an unfair advantage (being Padma Lakshmi and all) but regardless, she looks spectacular in a couture gown by Badgley Mischka and jewelry from her own collection.

This is not the finest photo of Mila Kunis arriving at the Emmy's, but it doesn't erase the fact that her deep red tulle dress by Monique Lhuillier is a stunner!

Perrey Reeves of Entourage was a vision in a sleek and shimmery Naeem Khan gown.
