I've spent a ton of time thinking, lately, about shopping strategy. I always CLAIM to buy only things I love or things I need, and prefer the best quality I can afford...but do I always live it? My shopping mantras were put to the test when I popped into H&M a month or so ago. There, I spied the Paris collection, and within it, this entirely amazing, entirely impractical faux fur jacket.
If memory serves, this jacket retailed at $59.90 (read: CHEAP!), and being faux, I'd generally eschew as I tend to think that faux fur makes people look like stuffed animals (sorry, everyone). BUT, the pull of this jacket was strong. I had visions of Kate Moss running through my head as I imaginary styled it with skinny jeans, a powerful stiletto and perhaps a classic fedora, like this one from Eugenia Kim.
So, despite the fact that this jacket was clearly not a NEED, nor of the best quality (in fact, it shed all over me yesterday), I'm glad I gave into a fashion whim and pulled the trigger.

Mark Your Calendars: Naeem Khan Tissavel Tiger Faux Fur Collection for HSN
Designer Naeem Khan's evening gowns and cocktail dresses are a thing of immense BEAUTY, and those are not words that I throw around lightly. So, imagine my anticipation when I heard that the designer was working on a faux fur collection for the peeps at HSN, as a follow up to the successful launch of Timeless, which sold out within MINUTES of airing.
And, thankfully, my (admittedly high) expectations were MET. The mood at last night's press and VIP preview in Naeem's Garment District showroom was nothing short of HIGH GLAMOUR and timeless Old Hollywood-style chic. The Faur Fur collection (produced in partnership with Tissavel Tiger, a highly respected faux fur manufacturer) includes accessories, coats, jackets, and shrugs that mixed effortlessly with the designer's signature collection. Even style doyenne Iris Apfel (in attendance) seemed to approve. The collection will be priced (to MOVE) between $89.90 -$999.
Click through the gallery for a sneak preview, and mark your cals - the Naeem Khan Tissavel Tiger Faux Fur collection launches exclusively on HSN in November.

OOTD: Go For the Faux
Those who know me know that it's pretty unusual that I fall hard for faux anything. And while faux fur is having a real mo' this fall, I personally feel that it makes many women look like stuffed animals. And unless you're into the whole Furry lifestyle, that's not hot. Thankfully, this rad Three Dots supima cotton fleece jacket breaks the cycle of horrid faux fur by being blatantly ridiculous. In the best way possible.
What I dig most about this jacket is the glaring contrast between the comfortable fleece base fabric (it's much like a sweatshirt, to be clear) and the bold, tipped faux fur, which inspired one dear coworker to exclaim that I looked like a lion. That's good, right? It's also toasty warm, and adds a much needed touch of glamour to a pre-holiday "casual Wednesday" OOTD.
