OOTD: For the Love of Animals (and Vodka!)

Oh snap, you guys. My friends at Smirnoff US, knowing how much I LOVE their vodka, all vodka, etc., challenged me to go tête-à-tête in a blogger styling challenge hosted on their Facebook page. And for those who read this site, and actually KNOW me, you know I'm powerless against the power of vodka, so of course, I said yes.

The brand has enlisted 3 designers to create t-shirts that bring to life their vision of the iconic spirits brand, and my fellow bloggerati (including Julia from Fashion Pulse Daily and Alia from Second City Style) and I styled one of my fave tees of the bunch, designed by Rachel Caldwell.

Embrace DEMOCRACY and cast your vote for MOI by Liking the Smirnoff page, and then Liking my pic! If I win (the final tally of Likes happens on Friday), $1,000 goes to my charity of choice: The Humane Society!

Head to toe, here's how I wore it:

  • Ray-Ban Wayfarers
  • Smirnoff Tee, designed by Rachel Caldwell (enter to win one here!)
  • Cuffs: Rebecca Minkoff (others here), Hayden-Harnett (others here)
  • J. Crew Glitter Belt (other J. Crew belts here)
  • HUDSON Jeans cut offs (originally the Collin Signature Skinny)
  • Loeffler Randall Zola Wooden Platform Bootie (alt color here)
  • Balenciaga Giant Day in Electric Turquoise (no longer available, other colors here)

**UPDATE** Even if you don't want to vote, the comments are worth a visit, peeps. Behold a few of my faves:

OOTD: Party for My Three Amigas

Tonight is a VERY special night for two reasons, peeps.

First, I'm going to GET MAH CULTURE ON, seeing the superbly reviewed Book of Mormon on Broadway with my work husband of sorts, Jake. Excited is an understatement - I'm looking forward to high levels of blasphemy and obvs, the most inappropriate humor (my fave kind!) imaginable.

Second, I'm hitting up the very VERY (if you'll allow me to say) Norwood Club following, to fête the early June birthdays of not one, not two, but count 'em, THREE of my best girlfriends - Sarah, Kristin and Amber.

These Gemini beauties know how to BRING IT sartorially speaking, so today, I did something WILD and CRAZY, and I brought it myself. Well, if by "bringing it," I mean "I wore a dress," that is.

Head to toe, here's what I'll be wearing to get my party on:

    OOTD: Feeling Kick-y

This morning, I woke up determined to show my legs to the world (I've got them. Really. I swear. I just wear pants everyday like a man.). On went a lovely navy Rachel Pally dress, and a sky high wedge (but of course) but when I stepped outside, I felt compelled to turn right back around and put on something that felt a little less committal for a Friday (and a dreary, rainy Friday at that). Off went the Rachel Pally (it was abandoned like a jersey carcass on my bedroom floor, if we're being honest), and on went my go-to during Spring/Summer months, the classic white jean.

I also reached into the depths of my closet and pulled out the lovely Alexander Wang Rocco bag, which I haven't worn in about a year. While it's a bit of a bear to carry (handheld or crook of elbow only, and quite heavy), it's a lovely light-medium gray and the perfect neutral to tone down a bright top like the silk chiffon Tibi tunic seen above.

Head to toe, here's what I've got on:

Outfit of the Day: Toasty Warm

Do you see that smile? Let me tell you something. That's the smile of a warm woman. A woman who will place her faith in down. A woman wearing a new Lands' End Luxe Down Coat, to be a bit more precise.

The refined shape of this puffer, along with available Petite sizing (I'm in a Petite Small above), makes for an ultra-flattering fit. Beyond the down (600 fill), this coat includes too many toasty warm details to count, including a Dri-Off finish to repel snow and water, concealed fleece cuffs and fleece-lined pockets (the best surprise imaginable on a cold day!

I have a sneaking suspicion that this coat will be my savior come January...but here's how I wore it today:

FTC Disclosure: Lands' End coat received for potential review.

    OOTD: Go For the Faux

Those who know me know that it's pretty unusual that I fall hard for faux anything. And while faux fur is having a real mo' this fall, I personally feel that it makes many women look like stuffed animals. And unless you're into the whole Furry lifestyle, that's not hot. Thankfully, this rad Three Dots supima cotton fleece jacket breaks the cycle of horrid faux fur by being blatantly ridiculous. In the best way possible.

What I dig most about this jacket is the glaring contrast between the comfortable fleece base fabric (it's much like a sweatshirt, to be clear) and the bold, tipped faux fur, which inspired one dear coworker to exclaim that I looked like a lion. That's good, right? It's also toasty warm, and adds a much needed touch of glamour to a pre-holiday "casual Wednesday" OOTD.
