On My Radar: Alexander McQueen & Damien Hirst Scarf Collaboration

By this point, Alexander McQueen's skull scarves are a classic and this year just so happens to mark the 10th anniversary of their debut. In celebration, the brand's collaborated with artist Damien Hirst on 30 unique designs that play to the shared aesthetic vision of the artist and the designer - think strong references to the natural world and playful symmetry.

Each of the 30 designs is adapted from Hirst’s Entomology series; you'll see that both beauties and creepy crawlies (butterflies, bugs, spiders and other insects) have been worked into each scarf's pattern to form kaleidoscopic geometric shapes, laid out to create the signature McQueen skull motif.

OOTD: Summer Denim

Despite the heat on days like today (we're looking at temps nearing triple digits), I have a hard time letting go of denim entirely. Thankfully, white denim is a summer PERENNIAL and this season, I found the perf pair of white jeans - chic, narrow and complete with snazzy zip pockets. Above:

  • Banana Republic scarf (no longer available)
  • Vince Silk Blouse (similar here)
  • J Brand Jeans Zoey Triple Zip Skinny Jeans in White
  • Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Silver Wedges (no longer available)
  • La Mer Collections Wrap Watch (similar here!)

How do you wear summer denim?

OOTD: The Debut of My Alexander Wang Rocco

In a perfect world, every bag would be the Alexander Wang Rocco.

Well made, with aggressive hardware and deliciously supple leather cut to look like velvet (you can smell the dead animal from six feet away), it's recently risen the ranks to be among my very favorites.  So, today, I kept things uber simple and let the bag be the star.

OOTD: Spring Fling Friday

Today is the FIRST day of 2010 that truly feels like Spring and I'm loving it! I let the season dictate my style this morning and here's what I'm wearing today:

How did your wardrobe celebrate the season? Do tell!

Holiday Gift-Terrific: The Jones New York Pashmina

I'm an avowed pashmina addict. Once the temp drops to 60 or below, I tend to have one permanently attached to my body in some capacity.

The vast majority were snagged via good, old-fashioned New York street vendors (where they go for $5 - unless you're a tourist, in which case they're $10) though I do have an indulgent Kashmere one that I snagged from Bluefly several years ago. The latest edition to the mix is this gorgeous Classic Wrap from Jones New York.

Available in several TDF shades, I simply had to snag the bright turquoise blue (the photo to the left does the color no justice, trust me). It's the perfect pop to neutral looks and the viscose has a lovely sheen to it.

I can't imagine any woman being less than thrilled to receive the Classic Wrap under the tree this year, and at just $24.99, you can afford to operate under the "One for you, one for me" philosophy (my favorite way to shop!)
