How to Style a Jeweled Sandal

Summer's just around the corner and, in anticipation, I spent hours yesterday cleaning out my closet. It's always fun to be reminded of what out-of-season goodies were tucked away, and I now have clarity on exactly what I need to round out my wardrobe for the season. Always on the list are SHOES, and in particular, fresh sandals for warm weather (maybe the chic jeweled version from Giuseppe Zanotti above, for one)- I'm sure you can relate. If you're in the market, I've got good news for you - I've partnered with DSW to offer one lucky reader a $250 DSW Bonus Card! Here's how to enter:

While all opinions, as always, are my own, this post was produced in partnership with DSW.

Holiday Gift Guide (+ a #Giveaway!): Epiphany Chocolate

I'm a big believer in traditional gifts - there are a few things you can buy for (almost) anyone and never (rarely) go wrong. On the short list? CHOCOLATE, preferably of the gorgeous and handmade variety. Most recently, I've been nomming on a 10-piece 'Get Cozy' box of Epiphany Chocolate, soft center gourmet chocolates in holiday-ready flavors like Sgt. Peppermint and Buttered Rum Fudge, a personal favorite of mine.

It's not enough to talk about chocolate, of course  - it's much more important to eat it (as I'm doing right this minute) and, my friends, it's also important to GIVE IT. So, I've partnered with Epiphany Chocolates to give one lucky reader a treat of their own - an 18-piece Get Cozy gift box (valued at $39.00) to enjoy or to give as a gift, if you're so inclined.

To enter, simply leave a comment below OR follow me and @EpiphanyChocs on Twitter and tweet this:

I'll choose one winner at random on Monday, December 10 at Noon EST - and if you're shopping Epiphany Chocolate this holiday season, enter promo code SPARKLE25 for 25% off from now through December 31. Enjoy!

Lookmatic Love [+ a #Giveaway!]: Ten Over Six Collabs on the Ultimate Cat-Eye

It’s good to find a style signature, and one of my favorites is undoubtedly a retro cat eye frame. In my spectacle WARDROBE, I’ve got prescription beauties and sunnies from brands high to low. But no cat eye is as special as Lookmatic’s new Patti Goes to Paris cat eye ($130), designed in collaboration with Los Angeles boutique Ten Over Six.

Ten Over Six Creative Director Kristen Lee created the Patti Goes to Paris in subtle homage to rock icon Patti Smith and her recent, National Book Award winning memoir Just Kids. It’s an extraordinary read, in fact, if you haven’t read it, I suggest you close your laptop now and get moving (okay, okay, finish this blog post first.)

Source: fmr-id.com via Dina on Pinterest

Available in three colors – a mod white, pop pink and deep olive – the Patti Goes to Paris is perfectly exaggerated, yet not oversized. The olive plays particularly well on a brunette (if I do say so myself.)

But I’m curious. What’s your preferred eyewear style? To suss out the deets, I’ve partnered with Lookmatic to offer 1 lucky reader the style of their choice – eyeglasses or sunglasses, prescription or non!

To enter, explore the Lookmatic site to find your favorite style and simply leave a comment below sharing! If you need a little more inspiration, you can also check out my Styled By feature spotlighting another of my fave Lookmatic styles - the Shelby.

I’ll choose one winner at random one week from today, on Wednesday, October 10 at Noon EST.

Good luck!

While all opinions expressed are my own, this post was produced in collaboration with Lookmatic.

Peek This: Inside My Medicine Cabinet

I’ll never tire of mild voyeurism, and one of my favorite ways to indulge is by sneaking a peek inside the medicine cabinets of friends – it’s sad but true. That said, my own medicine cabinet doesn’t house many secrets, unless you count those of the beauty variety. Here’s what’s tucked inside tonight:

Included in the mix is, of course, my makeup bag and brushes as well as some basic beauty essentials, and skincare treats and treatments (summer’s wreaking havoc on me, not sure how you’re faring!)

The most recent addition to my beauty arsenal is Vaseline’s Total Moisture Body Lotion. Billed a “clean feeling lotion,” this ultra-emollient and super easy lotion feels good on skin, and most importantly, moisturizes effectively, eliminating the need for any other lotions. Skin is left without leaving a hint of greasiness or stickiness, which is perfect for summer. Truth be told, it’s the only lotion in my life at the moment, and commitment’s really an issue for me, so that’s saying something.

But, apparently, I’m not the norm. In a recent study, 61% of women own more than one body lotion, and almost ¼ (23%!) own more than FOUR. And when asked WHY they own so many body lotions, 59% of women said that they had different lotions for different benefits. For example, lotions that really soften skin vs. lotions that smell absolutely amazing.

I’m curious– how many lotions does your medicine cabinet house? Leave me a comment sharing, and I’ll choose 5 – yes, FIVE! – winners at random to receive a full-size bottle of Vaseline Total Moisture. Winners will be chosen at random on Friday, August 3 at 12pm EST!

While all opinions expressed are my own, this post was produced in collaboration with Vaseline.

[#Giveaway]: Julep Maven Intro Box

Nail lacquer is truly one of my OBSESSIONS- in fact, it's pretty unusual that I'm seen without a fresh manicure and pedicure (I'd rather die!) One of the sweetest new brands on my radar is absolutely, without a single doubt, JULEP, a collection of stellar nail lacquer and complementary nail care products. Truth be told, their mix of fashion forward and staple colors, not to mention the ZOMG TOTES ADORBS packaging, drives me bananas (in the best way possible.)

But if there's anything better than Julep products, it's their nifty, new, subscription-based Maven program, which delivers a monthly assortment of personally selected, on-trend goodies for just $19.99 a month - my most recent shipment included two nail gorgeous shades of Nail Polish, a full size Julep Facial for Hands Glycolic Scrub, and assorted samples valued at well over $40.

If that sounds remotely appealing, don't worry - that means you're a perfectly sane woman. Learn more about the Maven program here and snag your first Sneak Peek Box for just $5 by using code EYE4STYLE. I've also partnered with Julep to offer ONE lucky reader a complimentary Julep Maven intro box (valued at over $40). Simply leave a comment below, calling out your FAVE color of Julep Nail Polish, and I'll choose one winner at random on Monday, January 23 at Noon.

Good luck!

Thanks for the entries! DJStyle, comment 5, is the winner!

[#Giveaway]: John Frieda + Lauren Merkin Flyaway Tamer Clutch

These are no brainers for inclusion.

Apparently, as suspected, I'm NOT the only GENIUS in the UNIVERSE who thinks that a travel-sized styling product and an evening clutch go together like peanut butter and jelly, as New York designer Lauren Merkin has joined forces with haircare powerhouse John Frieda to create the ultimate accessory for any Girl's Night Out - namely, a slim, rectangular leather clutch in the most versatile taupe patent imaginable. Complete with a travel size John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer tucked inside, it's a must for those who are as prone to URGENT fashion and hair EMERGENCIES as I am. [#GIVEAWAY!] I Came, I Saw, I Conquered: Tanger Outlets

Truth be told, I'm not much of an outlet shopper, friends. I'm actually one of those rare, STUPID women who's willing to pay full price for things she loves. What can I say? I'm all about convenience. BUT when the peeps over at Tanger Outlets came a knockin' with a shopping CHALLENGE - oh, and a $500 gift card - I simply couldn't say no. I'm a Leo, you know, which means I live for a challenge. SO, off Sarah and I went, whisked away by car and driver to Riverhead, Long Island last Sunday and shop, we did - at Tanger Outlet stores like Converse, Lane Bryant, UGG, Barney's New York, Saks Off Fifth, Banana Republic, J. Crew and so many more...We also ate Auntie Anne's pretzels, but I digress.

Along the way, we learned a few lessons on outlet shopping:

  1. Come with your curiosity, not a shopping list. It's impossible to predict what you'll find at an outlet center like Tanger, so keep your eyes open and enjoy the discovery process.
  2. Pay careful attention to quality. Most mass retailers - i.e. J. Crew, Gap, Coach, Banana Republic and many others - produce dedicated factory merchandise, and in some cases, the quality is nothing short of tragic. Don't be seduced by a brand name you trust - make sure that the merchandise they've put their label on is what you've come to expect.
  3. Wear sensible shoes. I'm not kidding. Of course, MY idea of "sensible" is likely far, far away (see above) from the AVERAGE woman's idea of "sensible", but either way, shopping the outlets can be EXHAUSTING, so wear something comfy and warm  - layers are a must in cold weather as most outlet centers are outdoors.
  4. Last but not least, if you see something you love, snag it - you'll probably be too tired to swing back around for it at the end of the day!

So, what did I buy with my $500 gift card?  (all prices with tax):

  • Kate Spade Blackberry Pouch: $13.04 (I know it's EMBARRASSING. But yes, I have a Blackberry. It's for work. My J-O-B. No judgement allowed.)
  • Theory Jufina Turtleneck Sweater: $230.83 (Half price!)
  • J. Crew W-Pieced Buckle Belt, Stripe Painter Scoopneck Tee, Couplet Dress: $94.46 (total; all Factory-specific product)
  • Saks Off Fifth: Two large NEST Candles, Green Saks Fifth Avenue Cashmere Ombre Scarf: $116.81 (total)

Remaining Gift Card Balance? $44.86!

I'm curious! What would YOU snag with a $150 gift card to Tanger Outlets?  This isn't just speculation, peeps - leave a comment here and Like the Tanger Outlets Facebook Page for a chance to win just that! I'll choose three comments at random next Friday, December 16 at Noon!

Disclosure: Tanger Outlets sponsored my shopping trip last week, and graciously provided gift cards for this giveaway.

One winner will be chosen at noon on Friday, September 10!

Good luck!

Win It: Diamond Stud Earrings from Kohl's

I'm what some might call a jewelry evangelist. And my jewelry PLATFORM (if you will) is built on the thinking that there's no such thing as a single jewelry must-have. Jewelry is about adoration and lust and it's unabashedly PERSONAL. But even I admit that there's one notable exception to my rule.

The classic diamond stud earring:

Now, no matter how you define your style - funky, boho or sophisticated or avant-garde - there's ALWAYS an occasion for a diamond stud earring. I personally like to rock mine (a platinum, 2 carat total weight pair by Tacori), with otherwise statement-making pieces. After all, I never want to be too TOO, if you see where I'm going there.

It goes without saying that studs are the perfect gift for yourself or someone special, so I've partnered with Kohl's for an exclusive giveaway of 1/2 carat total weight, 14k gold diamond studs, with a retail value of $1,750!

To enter to win, leave a comment on this post WITH your email enabled (I need to notify you if you win!)

Limit of one entry per blog commenter. One winner will be announced on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 12 PM EST.

And even if you don't win, keep in mind that you can find it all at Kohl’s jewelry department – certified diamond earrings and rings, gemstones, pearls and top name brand watches like Citizen and Bulova. All at incredible prices. And with Kohl’s discounts and savings passes, you can’t find a better value on jewelry anywhere.

Good Luck!
